Hi friends, I had the mirena fitted three months ago to try and help manage my symptoms, but have had a period the whole time ever since. Not heavy, mostly very light but the cramping, pains down legs, gravel in diaphragm and right shoulder weird pain, fatigue, fibromyalgia soreness, senstivity, brain fog , bloating have been relentless and my hormones feel all over the shop... can't decide if I should wait for the six months to see if it does settle as they say or just get it out??
I moved to London two months ago to study for my dream, but finding it so challenging I'm not sure I can continue. I have been between systems here and finally had a phone GP consultation to request referral but she didn't know what BSGE was... she has referred me to gyne team and requested Endo specialist, but can anyone recommend how/where I can get BSGE?

I am in the same position I had the coil fitted in October all was fine then 25 days later I am still bleeding I think that after nine days you start another one as there is something wrong today has been so bad it’s pouring out of me tampon and towel. Most people say wait 6 months but I can’t cope with fibromyalgia flare and bleeding that long don’t know what to do.
It's so hard, I'm so sorry this is happening for you.
A friend of mine who suffered with heavy periods (but not Endo), had 6 weeks of awful period, heavy bleeding straight after Mirena fit but it stopped after that and it has been great for her for many years ever since, only a few days of light spotting each month, so it can work well. This was my inspiration for trying it.
I do feel like it's worth hanging in there to let it settle, but I just don't know if it will, and if it doesn't improve Endo symptoms, what's the point?!
Thats why I was hoping to find women like us to help! I'm sorry I don't have answers, sending you love, its such a difficult and lonely experience sometimes xxx
Thanks so much for your reply. I think that I will keep on going with it but will check with the gynaecologist if I keep bleeding. I had it in because I had periods lasting 10 days and that was too much. Had them in the past and didn’t have a problem until it was changed and it was inserted incorrectly I was just a bit worried as this is now 23 days but as other people have had the same and it can take months to settle I will wait and see.
Treatment in a tertiary BSGE centre is commissioned by NHS England and not the local CCG through Choose and Book, which is how your GP will have now referred you back to secondary care. The treatment specification is below. Take this to your GP and tell them this and that a GP can refer directly. She needs to send a referral (or can do this by phone) to the centre you want to transfer to and ask them to get funding transferred from NHS England. Good luck but feel free to pm if you have any problems.
