I am currently well into my second month of Prostap and feel dreadful! Although I am dreading periods returning (only not had one since injections) I can not carry on with these side effects and really don’t want to go down the road of HRT. I have decided to not carry on with them.
Does anybody know what I am likely to expect if I do not carry on with them?
Many thanks in advance for any advice x

I had the injections for 3 months and like you hated the side affects. I’m just 30 days from my last injection and still having the hot flushes. I’m due to have a hysterectomy in December and my consultant has given me Tibolone and been taking it for2 weeks now. Hopefully Tibolone will overtake the affects of the Prostap soon. How long are you supposed to be having the injections?
God they are awful aren’t they! I was so sceptical but was also starting to feel a bit desperate. I got a mixture of good and bad reviews so decided to go for it. The plan was to get them monthly for 3 months then see from there. I am not going to carry on with them though I have felt awful is Tibolone HRT?
Have you tried any other treatments/therapies which have helped with symptoms at all? X
Hi I’m having tribolone too I’ve been advised it’s a synthetic steroid which puts a small amount back of hormones into the body which should not effect our endo.
I’ve had two failed surgeries and have tried the coil and every tablet known to man! What about you?
I do wish I had never tried this injection but I was hoping it would help and to be honest I was and still am desperate for normality.
How are we supposed to function with such pain and flooding? If I take strong pain killers I’m in bed if I don’t I sit abd cry it’s just awful.
I am normally such a positive person and my family abd friends have said I’m a different person since being diagnosed.
Have you read on here about the Lupron warriors on Facebook? I do not use Facebook but my friend looked up lupron which is the USA name for prostap and there is a law suit against the drug I just had injected into me which is not ideal
I have tried to remain positive but I have to admit I’m very frustrated as I’m sure you are x
Hi, it sounds like you are really suffering. so sorry to hear that.
I am also the same...it has taken over my life and I too feel a different person.
I have suffered with heavy/painful periods from I was 13 but after giving birth to my first and only baby In feb 2016 they got a lot lot worse and was diagnosed with a Lap in January this year. It was successful and although I still bled heavy, the pain wasn’t nowhere near as bad. However, I feel it has come back already and am suffering again, hence trying these injections.
I am also feeling desperate and wondering how to manage going forward.
I have tried every contraception pill and the coil and none of them were good for me as I am really sensitive to synthetic hormones.
Really? I didn’t know that about Lupron. That’s awful x
I haven’t tried anything else. I’m sure I’m getting little twinges of pain now I haven’t had another prostap injection. It’s not bothering me but I’ve noticed it. Last night woke 2/3 times with hot flushes and luckily went back to sleep. My side effects were flushes, not sleeping, sometimes nausea (this improved) weight gain around stomach and wanting to cry but this passed as quick as it came. I have got adenomyosis so once I’ve had the hysterectomy my pain should go away. It would be interesting to see how king it takes for the prostap to wear off for you.
Hi sorry I know it was a year ago but can you tell me if you found HrT settled down after a few weeks and have you had any long term side effects from prostap?
Hi I’m so grateful for this site! I had my first injection last Wednesday and feel so awful! I can’t believe that I was not given any literature on the injection and I had read lots of articles both positive and negative but the truth is what options do we have. I have never felt so low in myself ever. Every joint hurts and the palpitations and headache. Can anyone tell me how long it takes before this poison is gone out of my system.
I feel for everyone on here suffering with endo it’s barbaric xx
Ok fairly new to the site too and have found it so useful and helpful.
It’s such an awful thing to live with isn’t it. Not knowing what to do or how to help yourself for the best! my side effects didn’t kick in until the second month but have had same symptoms...aching all over , head aches, flushes, feeling low etc. I am wondering the exact same! How long u TIL it wears off!! I suppose everyone will be different x
No, I am not currently taking anything else with the injections. My gynea recommended HRT to balance the hormones but I really don’t fancy it.
I have read some posts on here about cbd oil and a lot of positive feedback so fingers crossed. I have read a lot about it helping with endo and inflammation etc so I am going to give that a try x
Hi Me too one thing to look for make sure it’s not just hemp oil as lots of suppliers are selling hemp oil without cbd and I’ve been recommended “simply cbd” so I’m going to order and try some and see what happens. Please let me know how you get on.
I truly hope we have some relief soon.
I too only have one child and she’s starting to show signs of endo already at 17 she’s really struggling and waiting to see a gynaecologist.
My gynaecologist said it is hereditary and has recommended hormones and pain killers but at 17 and studying her A levels it’s just cruel.
I feel so sorry for every Endometriosis sufferer as there is no cure it’s just all about management isn’t it. Xx
