Prostap wearing off

Hi, has anyone had experience of the Prostap 3 month injection wearing off earlier than 3 months? I had a light period with period pain 3 weeks ago and now I'm having a very painful heavy period just like my normal one. I'm due my injection on Friday. For the last 3 weeks I've felt mild endo main. I've had issues with the hrt patches so thought it was that at first but this definitely isn't. Has anyone been allowed to have the next injection earlier than the 3 months? Any advice would be great, thanks x

Hi, I’m on the monthly Prostap. I feel mostly ok for the first 3 weeks after the injection, but in the fourth week, I feel like I’m about to start a period. I get extra tired, get headaches and get pains which are similar to the period pains I used to get - low uterus, back and hip aches. No bleeding comes though, thank goodness. I haven’t thought about asking for my next injection early. However, you’re having a worse time than me and as you’re on the 3-month injections I think it’s worth asking if they can adjust the timing at all for you, or perhaps there’s something else they can do about it. Good luck x

Hi, thank you, glad it's not just me. I've emailed my endo nurse but she takes ages to reply. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. Thanks again x

I have my monthly prostap every 28 days because the last week is horrendous for me. I’ve been out on beta blockers because of the migraines I get and I’m beyond exhausted etc so it’s worth asking if you can have it a little earlier if you think it will help x

Hi, thank you, yes I will, I don't know if that was possible. Sounds like you've had a difficult time, hope you're ok. Thanks so much for your reply xx

Hi, I have the Prostap 3 injection every 6 weeks for this exact reason. Was initially on the monthly injections but they wore off so quickly it was decided to try the 3 monthly one instead. Having the 3 monthly injection at 6 week intervals has definitely lessened my symptoms.

Hi that sounds really good. Did you have to get permission from gynaecology to have them earlier than 6 months?

Sorry I meant 3 months!

The hormone specialist I've been seeing suggested it and informed the GP. Might be worth emailing your gynaecologist. Really hope you get some respite from your symptoms

Thank you so much for your help I'll do that. Can i ask if you are on any hrt as well? So far I've tried the 2 they suggested and they just make me bleed so I've given up.

I'm on Evorel 100 patches. Initially started on 25 but gradually increased. For me the combination has meant I've been able to return to work.....hoping it'll stay that way! Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Hi, I was put on Prostap monthly injections and tibolone (hrt) 4 months after my laparoscopy, as unfortunately I didn’t get much if any pain relief after removing a large amount of endo, chocolate cysts, & fibroids from a vast area. I found the first 2 injections helped, but 3,4,5 & 6, nothing. The pain was as severe & my mood swings were horrendous. It took 9 months for my bleeding to complete stop after having the mirena coil fitted, but other than rare spotting, I don’t bleed anymore. I asked about having the injections earlier than a month, to see if that helped, but they will not do it sooner than a month. It has to be a month bang on or longer.

Hope you find something that helps asap! Since taking amitriptyline my pain, fatigue, & bloating has been much better 👍 amitriptyline helps with nerve pain post surgery xx
