UTI after mirena fitting

Is it normal to get a UTI after getting the mirena fitted? I had it fitted on Tuesday and been in agony ever since but today I’ve woken up feeling like I’ve got a water infection. Going to test my wee when I get to work (work in a hospital) and then decide whether to ring the GP or not

I had the Mirena fitted a few months ago and got an infection. Doctor said it was normal but I would recommend getting it checked just Incase you need any medication

Yes it's a common side effect, it's quite a traumatic experience so bacteria can end up getting into urethra and the progesterone itself can also cause it.
