Fatigue

Does anybody else ever get people saying " you're always tired", "you're only young you shouldn't be tired at your age" (I'm 21 next month) "I can cope on little sleep why can't you?"

These are things I'm sick and tired of hearing people who don't suffer from fatigue and aren't going through the same thing as myself just don't understand... ITS NOT LAZINESS!!

Does this irritate anybody else?

Rant over haha :)

Oh yes! 🤣 Fatigue was one of my worst symptoms before my surgery, it’s debilitating and I think it can be hard for people who haven’t had have chronic fatigue to understand the difference between tiredness and fatigue xxx

I'm glad it's not just me they make out as if I'm lazy but half way through the day usually around 3pm I'm exhausted and people just don't understand it drives me mad x

Before my op immediately after lunch would be my worst time, at 2pm. It was as if stopping for lunch made it impossible for me to get going again. The fatigue made me want to sleep with my head on my desk! Feeling much better since my op though xxx

Omg same! I’m 19 and get told the exact same things especially when my fatigue is worse around certain times of the month. I have 8 hours of sleep a night but still wake up tired or find myself having a nap in the afternoon xx

Exactly! I haven't been diagnosed waiting for my lap the doctors are almost certain that it's Endo though and people complain at me for being tired and I've tried explaining it's fatigue and it's not just tiredness they make out I'm really lazy 🙄 They always bring my age into it too "you young ones are always tired" it does my head in x

I’m waiting for a lap too. Yeah I tend to just not tell anyone but I hate it as I see people our age going out drinking and I’m stuck in bed at 9pm fast asleep 😫 xx

Yes! Oh my god, yes! Fatigue has left me completely unable to function, I can't work and basically just do the minimum to get by. It's not tiredness and people are being really insensitive by saying they know what it's like if they're tired. It's like saying to a cancer sufferer who's lost their hair during chemo, oh I totally understand, I once had a bad hair cut!

People tell me all the time that I need to fight it, need to be more active but I know fine well that if I do that I suffer for weeks. I also get crap from people for leaving things early or going to bed early if visiting. Like I should pay with my health just too please them! It makes me mad 😡 this is definitely a sore point for me. I hate being fatigued so much.

Exactly it's just so rude especially when they know I have bad fatigue and it's not tiredness! I'm okay during the day it's usually 3pm I get tired then about 9pm I become really awake but then struggle to get up again in the morning x

I completely relate to this. I’m only 17, and I’m always cancelling plans with friends since I’m always tired. But family and friends keep telling me I’m too young to be this tired and all that stuff. Only one family member pulled me aside and said you slept pretty much all that day and you are still tired please go see your gp. It’s frustrating, since I can sleep all day and be tired. But it makes it worse when others point it out

Exactly! Age has nothing to do with how tired we are it's fatigue it's completely different hate it when others try make me feel bad about it x

Yes, yes, yes! I'm in the same position as you! Although I'm in my later twenties now, people have been saying this to me for years. It's so bad I i'm not sure if I have CFS/ME but maybe it's all down to endo! I'm waiting for gynae app for possible lap to see if have endo but I already have a diagnosed cyst on my ovary. xxx

Yes it's very frustrating! I get it said all the time and I also have suspected endo waiting for a lap x
