This is my first post. I've been on Decapeptyl ( and HRT) since March and have been really tired- like no amount of sleep is enough. Had my first Prostap injection recently to see if I felt any better than I did on Decapeptyl but the tiredness has hit me again. My endo symptoms are better but I'm too tired to enjoy that. It's starting to get me down. Has anyone else got experience of these injections?
Thanks

Hi lovely! Sorry to hear your feeling so tired I've only just been officially diagnosed last week with endo so haven't heard of Decapeptyl? What is it? My gynaecologist wants me to go on the prostap injections too but I haven't had my follow up appointment yet. Would you recommend the injections? I haven't had children yet. Xx imogen
Thanks for your reply. My initial injection (Decapeptyl) was a miracle and the second almost as good. It works the same as Prostap but is a different drug. Eventually it seemed to get less effective and I got more fatigue (I wasn't getting before the injections). I'm on HRT so only had hot flushes and dry skin briefly. Prostap so far is also working but I'm exhausted. I'm not planning on children so I've been told I could be on them indefinitely. I know that if you are planning children, they may keep you on them for 6 months. My consultant gives it monthly rather than 3 monthly so that would be my choice if I were you. I was initially sceptical about going on them but spoke to someone on the helpline who'd had success with them and it made me realise that it was worth a try. It's only temporary menopause. At least I know now it works for my symptoms. I just need to find a way of coping with the fatigue. You may not experience this at all. Hope your follow up goes well. X
Thanks for your response lovely. It's nice to hear a positive response on this. I've heard a lot of bad things about it. Just worries me because I have osteoporosis in my family and know it weakens bone density xx
I developed Chronic fatigue after my first lap. Zoladex aggravated it massively along with a whole lot of worse side effects. I had to stop the treatment after just 2 cycles.
When the zoladex experiment failed my only option left was to go for bowel op and excision of the nodule which I had 4 weeks ago. I am still at home recovering as it was major surgery.
It's tough going tbh. But I'm glad I did as it was more severe than scans had suggested and my 2 hour op became 4 1/2. It had nearly penetrated through the bowel wall and I narrowly escaped needing a bowel resection. I lost 4 cm of my vagina which was unfortunately too damaged to save.
Gosh you've been through it then! Are you under a specialist centre for endo? Which one? How do you feel now? I know from your other posts that we're the same age and I'm wondering therefore if you were not diagnosed until quite recently. My first lap will be in Oct/Nov.
