Terrible few days...:(

Well....went back to work 5 weeks post 1st lap, diagnosis and diathermy. Felt well last week and genuinely looking forward to getting back into it, i am also on secondment into a more senior role and keen to prove myself. Day 1 was fine. 2nd fertile window since my op commenced at the weekend with milder bladder burning symptom that i have had in the past. Had sex monday night as trying for baby. Struck down since with excrutiatng burning pain in my vagina and urethra. Basically my entire downstairs. I had 3 hours sleep tuesday evening and so had to go to work later than usual. Pain started again in the car and was peaking by the time i got to work so i busrt into tears at the first friendly face i came across. Today i had to leave at lunch time. Dr has told me to increase amatriptaline to 20mg and manage with coedine but im having to take 60mg to get any relief together with 800mg paracetamol. I also have been given instillagel local anaestheic for "down there". Has anyone experienced similar pain? What medications worked for you? I am worried about work. I work in HR and am never sick i am usually the one managing peoples sickness so i know how the process goes if i can attend work...or attend irregularly. So far boss is very supportive and has said to do what i can fpr a month and we will assess what the impact was at the end. Trouble is this illness is so unpredictable its hard to manage their expectations.

Big hugs. I went back after my diagnostic into a more senior role, i really empathize. Try to build up very slowly and be gentle on yourself dont push yourself too hard. xx

I found that piriton anti histamine helped me with my burning pain issues, the one you can take every 4 to 6 hours.

Other things I did to help were avoiding using any toiletries in the vicinity in the shower and trying SLES and paraben free ones (kind natured brand purchaseable online is reasonably priced and the one I ended up with). I also went over to natracare organic sanitary towels.

You could try yes yes yes water based lube to reduce friction too.

Just some ideas xx

Hi starry. Thanks for your help. I tried piriton last night and had no luck. Everything im trying all has the side effect of making drowsey and yet i keep reading that caffine is an irritant. Talk about a vicious cycle. Makes functioning normally near impossible.

That's a shame, worth a try I guess. Maybe check out the advice here and go back to the specialist? It's such an awful feeling. Good luck in trying to figure out the underlying cause. vulvalpainsociety.org/vps/i...

I took ginger or turmeric tea for a while rather than caffeine as they are both anti inflammatories. The pukka brand isn't bad.
