I have been on cerazette for 3 weeks I have been in so much pain and bleeding I am at my wits end. Been on pain killers every day since starting this damn pill. I was put on it due to dysfunctional bleeding. Please can anyone suggest anything else. I cannot take norothisterone or mirena or iud or combi pill. x

Hi, I don't suffer from endo (joined this forum to follow a few Cerazette treads funny enough!) but was put on it to control very very heavy periods. My period lasted 11 days the first month, the second month I bled less but was on and off most of the month and am now on my 3rd. It was 10 days late and so far much lighter compared to what I used to have ( I was scared to go into work as I am a teacher and when like this, I don't think I can last an hour!). This i can cope with. I have read literally every thread on the internet to do with Cerazette and some say it settles after a few months. Really hope it works for you xx

Thanks for ypur reply. It's the pain that's getting to me. I don't know how much longer I can cope x

Hey, I was on cerazette and had problems from the start. However it can take up to 6 months to settle down. I was on it for 5 months but had the worse side effects and bleeding every day.

Just sick with it for a few more weeks if you can and if it doesn’t settle down, go back to your gp xx

Thanks for your reply. I dont think I can stick with this for another day. I have been on it for 3 and half weeks. I have had to take painkillers every day since starting it. I can barely function or walk with the pain in my uterus and bladder. I cannot go out anywhere cos of the constant pain. I am bleeding also taking 2 pills a day to try and stop it and so far it is not working. I keep saying give it one more day but I mean how long do you give a pill that's causing more pain and suffering and bleeding. The doc says give it a few more weeks and see. Gave me a prescription for painkillers and sent me on my way!! I am jyst so fed up of this pain and suffering. My husband cannot stand to see me in agony everyday. I don't know whether to ask the doc to put me on a different progesterone pill but cannot take norothisterone so my options are limited x

Yeah I refuse to take contraceptive pills and injections now as I have suffered badly on the ones I tried. One doctor tried to induce menopause and at 19 going through that was horrendous, I lasted 2 weeks haha.

Speak to your doctor and see what they say. Really advocate the issues you’re experiencing and don’t take “give it a few more weeks” as an answer. Xx

Thank you for responding. I know I cannot continue like this but I feel I am contacting the gyne all the time and they are gonna get sick of me with something they think is trivial. x

I always feel like my doctors will get sick of me but after going today, the nurse is trying to push my lap forward. Sometimes we have to keep contacting them in order to get somewhere. And don’t worry they won’t get sick of you as it’s their job to help people feel better xx

Don't feel bad for going back, you shouldn't have to put up with it. I felt the same when I kept going back about my super heavy and with clots periods especially after my GP tried to say that it's normal part of perimenopause (I am 45). However, like my friend pointed out, if you were bleeding this much and for this long from another part of your body, you'd be sent to A&E.

What are you taking to stop the bleeding? I take transexamic acid when bad but only for a few days. Ibuprofen works a treat and normally reduces my bleeding quickly.

Hope you get it sorted x

Hi Boodie,

Your post rang bells for me. I have been taking Cerazette for just under 3 weeks for endometriosis pain. I have had worsening pain and bleeding for the first two weeks. I have had 4 days of the painful period where I have been unable to leave the house or even bed. I have had to take strong pain relief but its still not enough to take the pain away. I am hoping the pain will be related to the period, time will tell for me. I really feel for you Boodie and totally understand that you are considering another option. Ive had over two years of constant pain so like you if this treatment continues to cause me pain I will be returning to my consultant. You should not feel guilty for appointments, no matter how many times. Do what feels right for you and if you feel this treatment is effecting your life in more negative ways then talk to your consultant. That is what they are there for. Don't worry about what they think, its your health. Stand your ground, No-one else is going to do it for you.

Take care!

Hi there, many thanks for your post. Since posting my post, I went onto oral provera for 3 weeks which did not make my pain any better. Then I went o to Norgeston mini pill. This too did not make my pain any better. So as of yesterday after speaking with my consultant and have stopped the pills. We are giving it 2 weeks and see of when I bleed if it will stop in a reasonable time frame if not then may be on zoladex. Im running out of options. I just hope when I bleed it is not heavy and it us not painful x
