Diclofenac suppositories

I was prescribed diclofenac suppositories on Saturday night and took my first one last night and then my second one this morning. Sorry if tmi but my bum has been leaking what looks like orange oil it’s gone through my nickers and through my leggings. I’ve rang 111 because I don’t know whether it’s normal and they’ve advised me to speak to my gp which I am waiting for them to ring me back. I’m just wondering is this normal? Has it ever happened to any of you before?

Have you ever noticed a sort-of slime in your poo before? Maybe it’s just liquified that?

Sorry I can’t help, hope you get a proper answer soon xx

I take diclofenac and it’s normal - the suppository melts in your bottom and so you do get a lot of liquid when you need to either fart or poo (!) and it doesn’t smell pleasant either sadly! Try using a lubricant and putting it slightly further back in your rectum to avoid leaking x

Surprised 111 didn’t know the medication (that it melts) - that’s a bit odd! It’s a great pain killer I find but with the Liquid discharge I find it’s better to take a night when I’ll be sleeping or if I’ll be lying down for a period x

Hi Tinkerbell971

It is absolutely normal! Also the smell is not pleased either, I was on voltarol suppositories one of the best out of all meds! You might need to try to push it all the way in and always do it after your emptied your bowels..also be careful try to do it only at night time to avoid embarrassing moments! It’s happened to me I put one in in the morning before leaving to an appointment and I had to run back to my house as I was liking from my bum 😖! Lesson learnt only took the suppository at night time and honestly was one of the most effective pain relievers...

Hope it goes well with your medication 🤗

Thank god for your replies. I thought it would be normal but just wanted to double check, I think I’ll just be taking them of a night time from now on to avoid any embarrassing leakage!! I didn’t take it last night or this morning because they told me not to and I can already feel that my pain is a lot worse than it was after I took the first one so hopefully this means it works xx

hey. I know this is an old thread but maybe someone has some latest info.

I've had some diclofenac suppositories from the endo team. I tried one yesterday and it worked really well. I can only use one per day, 100mg, along with an omeprazole. This morning however, my lower tummy feels so sore and when I needed to go to the toilet the pain was really bad in my bowel area and lower tummy. Is this normal?

Thanks x
