I went for 5 wees in 40 minutes last night

And 6 bathroom trips altogether in the 40 minutes cause one of the times I just felt like I needed a wee but couldn’t actually go. I was trying not to force any wee out and when I didn’t need to go I just went back to bed but I did actually go 5 times so I couldn’t just stay in bed incase I wet myself. I only had a couple of small cups of water in the evening. I don’t drink loads. Mum doesn’t think it’s a normal wee infection cause I’m not getting pain actually weeing. I was getting some mild tummy pain that night and getting a bubbling feeling mainly in the left side. If it’s not a normal wee infection then all I can think it could be is that IC thing or endometriosis has affected my bladder cause I never used to wee so much. I’m a bit worried that the suspected endometriosis could have damaged my bladder though.

My urge to wee is also being a problem today and my left side stabbed me once when weeing today and continued stabbing me a bit after. I also keep getting the bubbling feeling in my left side and it just generally is feeling uncomfortable right now.

Im so sorry that must be so uncomfortable for you!

The first thing to do is go to your GP and get a urine test to rule out infection - start with the easiest test.

If its not an infection, It could be endo on the bladder / urethra or IC / inflammation on the bladder or something else like overactive bladder syndrome. Ask to be referred to a urologist and ask for a cystoscopy to check for any inflammation or other problems inside the bladder. In the meantime you could ask your GP to try Betmiga if you wanted - it is used for overactive bladder and should help decrease the number of times you need to go.

Also, if you have one, try use a tens machine. I had issues for months with needing to go regularly and a tens machine decreased the number of times I needed to go. It depends on whats wrong though whether or not that will work xx

I should have added if it is endo then you could try get an MRI and see if if comes up on the scan but if it doesnt show up on the scan that doesnt rule it out - the last step would be to go for a laparoscopy to check whats on / around the bladder if all else fails xx

I’m seeing an endometriosis specialist in a bit more than a month so mum said to just mention the weeing a lot to him then and to just drink water before then.

1) It’s really important to check with your GP if you have an infection or not. Don’t wait to see the endo specialist.

2) You say you don’t drink a lot and that is an issue for lots of us. A common mistake but it really can be the cause of the problem and certainly significantly aggravate it. It can increase bladder irritability and the likelihood of infections. Upping your water intake is a simple remedy and altering your peeing habits.

You should find whether it’s an infection or the endo causing irritation the increase in water helps. Most women find they actually pee less frequently but the volume when they do increases. The danger of drinking less is both chronic dehydration and greater bladder irritability both which aggravates any endo in the area. I was recommended 3-4 litres of water spread out throughout the day. I manage 3 litres regularly. So try maybe 2 ? Build Up gradually over a week splitting the amounts across the day. I have 2 x 500ml metal water bottles that I refill and sip from that from time to time , I don’t guzzle large quantities as that’s not helpful.

When you pee your position is important- don’t push or squeeze the last drops out - but wait for it to start and wait for it to finish , have your legs outstretched in front of you spread apart in a relaxed position. Don’t preemptively wee if you’re going out etc . Bladder irritation can occur with going when we don’t “need to “ with “just in case “ wees. The bladder nerves get mixed messages about when to go and when not to when we do this. This will add to the mix of inflammation from being dehydrated, overly strong urine from the dehydration signalling to void small amounts and general inflammation from the endo. It will take a bit to adjust but should really help

Flavoured, fizzy waters are a no as are other drinks they can also cause irritation. You don’t need to buy bottled water either. Tap water is fine. I use a two litre jug and draw mine the night before as I find it tastes better and it means I can keep an eye on how well am doing at the water over the day without getting caught up in recalling whether have drunk 1 litre or 500ml by lunch time .

Sometimes endo can strangle the ureter or cause significant scarring but for most of us it’s being dehydrated….

I’m not getting tested for an infection before seeing the specialist cause mum doesn’t believe it’s a normal wee infection cause I’ve had it for at least a year. And I’m not yet diagnosed I’m seeing the specialist to see if he thinks it’s endometriosis. I’m not drinking less cause I’m weeing a lot, I just don’t drink much generally

And that’s the point . Lack of fluid intake is likely an aggravating factor in such symptoms. It will cause issues with bladder signalling. Sometimes trying a change in behaviour helps.

The body adjusts but also struggles more the longer you do it. Time in itself adds to the problem. When you have a specific problem like endo which creates havoc with inflammation and hormones disregulating , let alone the medications ontop , the body needs to flush away even more rubbish out of the system via liver and kidneys. It’s much much harder if the body is dehydrated and it means a lot more rubbish gets stored rather than gently carried out. Our body needs water to function healthily, we are largely made up of water and we need to respect that , we can’t buck the system by drinking little . It’s like knicker elastic it will get more challenged and less able to do the work it needs to the more the stressing continues. Your body is giving you messages to try to tell you it can’t manage …..

I’m not yet diagnosed with endometriosis I’m still waiting to see the specialist and I’m not on loads of medication, only use the BC patch and take naproxen like once or twice on the first day of my period, often just once now since it doesn’t really work

Most medicine, even moderate , ups the requirement of water to help your system. TBH wonder why there’s resistance in drinking sufficient - every part of our bodies need water to run ! Each of us needs to understand for ourselves how and why we get stuck in ruts that aren’t always the best for us. Often older women worry about access to loos being poor in public places and kids reduce their drinking because they have to ask permission during class time ( appalling btw) . Some people just don’t recognise they are thirsty and so override the signals. 🤷‍♀️ In the end however the body ends up creating other distress signals - such as false sensation of needing to pee - and ways to try and cope such as frequent small peeing, constant night time waking, irritation of the bladder a bit like infections etc etc.

You’ll know why for yourself but unless you try something different you’ll never know …. Habits can be helpful or not .
