What are the best painkillers? I have fibromyalgia and am already on codydramol high dose but even those coupled with nurofen don’t touch endo pain. Advice appreciated.

I’ve had a similar problem with finding painkillers that work. I take codeine (30mg x2) paracetamol and neurofen at full dose and it still doesn’t help the pain! I have to say that I have found codeine helpful but I wouldn’t advise taking it unless you have a flare up or it’s suddenly worse than normal. Do you take painkiller on a daily basis or only occasionally?

I take codydramol regularly anyway (it’s a cocodomol alternative) at a high dose. I’m in agony right now. I took 2 nurofen express and have a hot water bottle on my groin. Still agony.

I’m in agony right now as well too. Can hardly move. I find using a hot water bottle works but I’ve tried most types of medication and unfortunately I am yet to find one that takes the pain away completely...! I definitely recommend the hot water bottle/heat pads. I wish I could say something else to help or recommend something? I’m always here if you want a chat or to talk someone though 😊

Thank you. I need to go to the GP and get a referral to gynaecologist I think. Been putting it off as the GP is useless, they’ll avoid referring and try to put me on more meds. I don’t want to be zombied up. I was on lyrica for fibromyalgia until 18 months ago. Took me months to get off them and the withdrawal was horrific.

I just don’t get how all these painkillers do not even touch the pain. What’s worse is we’re going on holiday tomorrow.

Yes definitely get a referral. I have been referred to one of the top Endo consultants who works in Oxford. It is worth seeing a specialist because the GP never knows what to do. I’ve had so many problems with the GP with my Endo!!!

Yes that’s why I came off daily medication because I didn’t want to end up always on tablets. But as per usual they don’t seem to even help the pain. If only there was something?? 😭

I hope you have a nice holiday! Try and take some heat pads or something with you so at least you have something to try and even ease the pain even if it’s slightly? Holiday will be nice and stress free though (hopefully 😊)
