Anyone been told following the diet is stupid it wont help?

The endo diet hasn't been studied properly, probably because there is no commercial benefit for any pharmaceutical company. I think you just have to try it for a few months and see how it works for YOU. It is challenging, as there are so many exclusions but it gets easier as you figure out recipes that you like. A lot of the recommendations for foods to avoid (wheat, dairy) and to eat (pro biopics and phytonutrient rich fruit and veg) are supported by Dr Michael Mosley's Clever Guts Diet book and website. So there is a scientific basis.
Do you follow the diet yourself if so do ever have a day off from it and just have a treat?
I follow the diet but I am only human and sometimes I give in to cheese, or coffee or a bit of chocolate with sugar in it maybe twice a month. If I do it occasionally it doesn't harm me . But. If I do it too much (like a couple of times a week at Christmas !) my pain and bloating definitely get worse.
Just remember the endo diet is basically cutting out inflammatory foods. I did it for 9 months and while it didn’t help the pain a great deal it certainly helped with bloating and energy levels. I do think what you put into your body can aggravate endometriosis (I can’t drink alcohol anymore, the next day my pelvis feels like it’s on fire and I have an upset bowel for 3 days) Don’t listen to people’s opinions, do what works best for you and your body
Hugs x
The truth is, there isn't enough evidence for doctors to comment one way or another.
Endometriosis UK mention diet in their FAQs:
I haven't tried vegan mozzarella. I do use Violife cheese slices for cheese on toast and melted on jacket spuds. It's bland!! However I think you get best nutritional support from lots of fruit and veg, rather than relying too much on ready made foods. I really recommend the Deliciously Ella website for recipe ideas and her Deliciously Ella Every Day book is great too ...all her recipes I have tried have been easy, really tasty and if you cook in bulk and freeze stuff you can stock up on homemade meals and treats that are better and tastier than anything ready made in the supermarket. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's book Much More Veg is pretty good too. I do appreciate this all takes time and Ironically the worse you're feelingredients the harder it is to overhaul your diet. But definitely worth it.
