Anyone on Yasmin pill?

Hi there everyone, I've been given yasmin but having read up on the side effects, it has an increased risk of blood clots above the other combi pills although it is the most natural form of progesterone in it. Would like to know other's experiences , thanks everyone. 😊

Yasmin is bad news. Don’t take it. It is synthetic, your body doesn’t recognize it. You need a bio identical progesterone pill in olive oil. You take it before bed. Synthetic hormones have been shown, by the Women’s Health Initiative to cause “29 percent increase in coronary heart disease. 41 percent increase in strokes. 22 percent increase in cardiovascular disease. 2,100 percent (no typo) increase in pulmonary embolism aka lung blood clots. And 26 percent increase in breast cancer.” All I’ve ever read about Yasmin is bad bad bad. Bio identical hormones are the way to go. I feel incredible being on them now for 2 months. They’ve given me back my life. It’s not birth control. I don’t know if any of those bc pills are any good. Just my thoughts and warnings and hopes that you get the best care possible.

Hi I just read this thread and was shocked as I've been on Yasmin for 6 months. Would you mind sending the name of the pill you're recommending? I'd definitely be interested in trying it after reading all those statistics!! Did it stop your bleeding and reduce pain? Also did you take it back to back for a few months and then have a break? And is there any side effects? Sorry for all the questions!

On my bottle it says Progesterone (olive oil) 100mg Oil Caps Take 1capsule every night at bedtime on days 6-28 of cycle as directed.

So this is bio identical hormone prescribed by a hormone-balancing doctor and filled by a compounding pharmacy. Not all docs know about bio identicals, but they have not been shown to pose the health risks that synthetic hormones do. Bio identicals cant be patented by big pharma companies because they’re natural. Not man made. Therefore there’s no profit in it so they don’t care. Not interested. Look out for synthetic hormones especially estrogen. So dangerous.

The only side effects have have good, deep sleep, better mood and just a more relaxed outlook. I should say I also take bio identical testosterone cream, the tiniest bit every morning rubbed into inner arms. When I go to the gym, the next day my muscles are tight already. I suspect it’s upping my mood because my depression, being estrogen-dominant before BHRT (bio identical hormone therapy), went from bad to virtually nothing within weeks of taking it. I don’t have endo, but my periods were very painful and pms /pmdd was 2 weeks of misery. Now I’m a little teary the DAY before I bleed and almost no cramps. Get a blood test, your hormones checked, and leveled out, if possible. It’s (relatively) new medicine. Many docs are clueless.

I was on Yasmine for a good few years until I moved doctors surgery and they took it off me straight away due to the risks. I was quite alarmed I was ever put on it! So irrisponsible!

On cerrezette now (i think) took so many types...

I was put on as part of a research trial, but it triggered my aura migraines so I had to change back to cerrazette. I am looking into the coil though as apparently it is the best option for endo. X

Have you read the latest news about the coil??? I heard it’s very dangerous. Please be aware everyone.

What is the latest news?

Strongheartforever profile image
Strongheartforever in reply toLauren-1998

The coil can cut through and go into other parts of your body. Then it has to be retrieved. There are 70 thousand lawsuits pending now. There are risks with everything. Don’t trust what a doc says who is pushing a product that they’re being paid to prescribe. Educate yourself and think critically and get your info from sources without monetary incentives. That’s the real message here. Read and research and in essence become your own doctor. Dr Mark Hyman has written great books on health. Suzanne Somers books interview top docs who cut through the B.S.

Hi there! I was on Yasmin for about 8 years. I haven’t noticed any side effects (apart from very low libido). Not that I read the message above it really concerns me.... None of these things were mentioned by my GP! I came off it 2 years ago though (luckily!) and now struggling to conceive :( (I’m not saying it’s because of Yasmin!).

If I had to choose a new pill now, I’d definitely go for something different...

I’ve been on yasmin for 3 years and its by far the best pill I’ve been on in my 13 years of trying many. I lost 2 stone when i started this pill, my moods are better i have less mood swings than i did before, i don’t have acne just the occasional spot. I was changed over to rigevidon by my doctor 6 months ago which made my periods a thousand times worse, so I requested to be put back on yasmin 3 months later. It doesn’t help the amount of pain that I’m in each month or help with how heavy my periods are but it allows me to feel better within myself. I also read bad reviews on this pill but I’m honestly so glad i tried it. Hope this helps x

Yasmin is the only pill I have ever felt myself on. I take it without breaks now to try control my endo growth before surgery. Before that, my periods were still bad but super regular, I found my skin improved and my moods were regulated.

I’m so glad you two found some relief from your misery with Yasmin but read up on it. It’s derived from HORSE urine and it can really mess with blood clots and bring swift death. No joke. The longer you take it the more damage it does and the higher your chances of developing malignant hormonal cancers. I was just telling my husband that I’d have taken anything, even synthetics, even with the risks, to cure my severe pms. But I found a natural solution and hallelujah I don’t give one penny to big pharma corrupt mass poison greedy evil Eli Lilly stock holders anymore and I feel like new and can see now the pills were making me SICK anyway. God bless naturally balanced hormones and if Yas or Premarin or any synthetics help others I’m thrilled. Quality of life above quantity of life. It’s too short and too painful to suffer that badly.

hi strongheartforever!

I've recently been given Yasmin for perimenopause as Ian in my forties now and still getting periods. iam a non smoker and not really over weight so they said it was safe. I've just switched from rigevidon which I took for a yr but it didn't help my mild acne at all. Yasmin iam told has an antiandrogen in it so thought it might help. been on it 2 wks so far and can't see much change. Iam extremely worried about these blood clot issues and I would really prefer something safer to balance out my hormones which I think is the eastrogen defficiency. wounder how and what doc to approach for the meds you are taking? would really appreciate your help and advice. I've 4 children youngest 4yrs and I don't want to take anything that could risk my life, I've too much to lose.

please get back. x

So you need to get off that and find a compounding pharmacy then they’ll refer you to a hormone-balancing doctor who prescribed BHRT bio identical hormone replacement therapy. Read Summers’ “Ageless”. These are natural hormones to replace the ones youre up or down on: (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, maybe thyroid, adrenal). So you need a blood test and the doc will tell you what’s depleted. You’re likely estrogen-dominant and peri menopausal. Read books on “functional” medicine and BHRT. Synthetic hormones are bad for you!!! It’s proven. Especially estrogens. Many doctors especially Western, do not know what BHRT or pmdd are. Make sure yours does. Become your own health advocate. When you replace lost hormones, you trick your body into staying young. Depo-provera shots may be good too; they helped a woman here on this forum, with her pmdd. I hope you can find this kind of medicine. I suspect you can!! Let me know how you do. Don’t ever do the “coil”, it’s bad!

Thank you so much for the very informative reply. iam due to see my doc on Monday but I will definitely be researching this through other sources first as suspect I may not get any joy with my own surgery. hope I can get this on the bus rather than private. I will keep you updated .

Many thanks again. x

hi strongheartforever

I've found a clinic near me that prescribe the bioidentical hormones and am arranging an appointment hopefully next week. apparently it's very hard to get it through NHS GPS as most don't know about it or maybe don't want to. going to be a bit costly but if it's really going to be beneficial then I guess it's worth it. ive come off yasmin as Ian getting bad side effects already from it. can't understand why these GPS don't properly diagnose people. I originally requested a hormone test to see which ones I was lacking in and was told there is no test for that and that you just have to keep trying different pills untill you find one that suits you! but that's just messing people up going from one drug to another. dissapointed with the NHS service really as they just don't seem to care what meds they put you on even if they are dangerous which this one obviously is, especially after reading up about all the thousands of law suits up against the company Bayer it's shocking. well thanks for putting me on to this iam so glad I found this website now. I will keep you updated with my progress. x

Oh gosh I’m so sorry to hear about your struggles but I can’t say I’m surprised. Glad you found a doc who can get you some BHRT! Try to stay with natural medicine if you can. It’s sad that your other doc told you you can’t get your hormone levels checked. Not true!! And I’m sorry BHRT is a bit expensive. It’s so worth it. So glad you are off Yasmin. You are on the right track!! Stay with bio identical hormones, stay away from any and all pharmaceuticals, put love and relationships at the top of your priorities, enjoy your life!!! It all starts with hormone balance which effects everything. God bless you!! Stay in touch. Thanks for trusting what I was saying here. It’s not easy when all the pharma companies are telling you they have the answers to everything.

Thank you strongheartforever (can see now why you have yourself that name😄) yes Iam so sure about these bioidenticals specially after reading Carol vordermans story!! went to my doc yesterday to mention my side effects and that Ian off yasmin and she said 'I don't think Yasmin would cause you those side effects!! can you believe that?!! well now iam convinced that private is best even if it is a little costly , in the end it's your health that matters above all else. these dam crap NHS surgeries don't care what meds they push onto people or what harm they cause and I've come to realise it now. not had the consultation as yet so not much to say but will be updating progress! you too hun God bless xx

Strongheartforever in reply tosar777

Wow I just read about Carol Vorderman and her story is EXACTLY mine and many many other womens’ as we come into our mid-thirties! She is now fighting to get bio identical hormone replacement therapy covered by NHS. She said what I have said here, that anti-depressants won’t solve the problem but BHRT will!! If you feel a terrible dark depression in your thirties and/or forties please get your hormone levels balanced with BHRT and you’ll have to go private to do it but it will save and give you back your life. Thank you for mentioning Carol’s story. It will save lives!!!

sar777 profile image
sar777 in reply toStrongheartforever

yes I too thought her story was amazing! it just goes to show that the best treatments always cost! but I too like many others believe these medication s should be offered free to women on NHS as not everyone can afford private. iam not well off but iam stretching my self to do this as I know it's the best option. let's just hope carols message takes effect soon! xx

Ladies our there I just want you to go to the Institute of Functional Medicene to find a doctor who will prescribe BHRT bio identical hormone therapy. If someone told you that Yasmin is “natural” or has “most natural” anything in it, you can believe it because it’s derived from a pregnant mare’s (horse) urine and they don’t charge money to take it so it’s cheap!! And it causes serious health risks. Bio identicals reduce health risks and lift depression and keep you young. Carol Vorderman is fighting to get BHRT covered by NHS. Study up on it and functional medicine!! Go to the Institute of Functional Medicine to find a doctor. And if yours declines to inform you on BHRT because of their lack of knowledge, take your health into your OWN hands.

just wanted to update here. ive had my blood test done at the clinic to test my hormone levels. kate my nurse talked me through it all. it will take 24 to 48hrs to get the result and then the medication will be tailored to suit my needs. they write you the prescription then you have to call the compound pharmacy in London pay for it and they send it out to you. it's that simple basically. I paid £300 in total for my consultation plus bloods which is pretty reasonable. my prescription for 3 mo the will cost me about £90 but it's a fair price to pay to get your health back on track. NHS GPS just dont tell you the root of your problem and their tests are very basic. this kind of treatment should be available free really on NHS and I really hope it will be in the future, as it carries much less risk than the standard synthetics HRT that they give you on NHS.
