When I see the gynie she told me she wants me to go on yasmin pill for 3 months, no breaks. she said if pill stops pain then it's endometriosis.
Had anyones pain stopped through doing this?

Have u had any scans or cameras
No cameras.
I had an internal scan and it showed a functional cyst on left ovary.
And fluid which they said could be endo.
Symptoms massively improved on the pill for me but after a few years, I had problems again.
I take yasmin and although my symptoms aren't better, they are less frequent!
My Dr told me to take yasmin for three months then to only have a four day break instead of seven and eventually periods will stop altogether...
But I'm not sure how they can diagnose from experimenting with the pill. I think you would still need a laproscopy.
I'm sorry to be the voice of doom but I took the pill and still had difficulties. If anything the hormones from the pill seemed to make my mood worse. I did notice my periods were lighter so that was a bonus! If you're concerned you have endo I think a lap is the only way forward. I really hope you find some answers xx
Thank u.
I do doubt she will put me for a lap. Everyone seems to keep saying I'm too young. (26 in March).
This pain has literally ruined my life. I am not working at the moment because of all the hospital appointments and most days I don't think I physically could.
Quite a few people always write on this page too that after they have had surgery/lap they sometimes have more problems than what they had before...
X
You really need a laparoscopy for absolute diagnosis of Endo, as scans can miss, though transvaginal ones can spot much.
If you read around on here you will see that the pill varies hugely in it's effect on women - from nearly curing, to making things worse. I don't actually know what Yasmin is, but your GP's suggestion that if the pain decreases 'proves' it's endo is naïve, to say the least. However, if it means she will send you for a laparoscopy, preferably in a BSGE Centre - if you are in the UK, that is, check it out on the 'Endo Uk' site, link above - then that may be a step forward.
It is absurd - in fact almost a crime - how Endo is so badly understood, diagnosed and treated.
I hope all goes well.
Hi CarlySky

My surgeon and GP advised this after my diagnostic lap confirmed endo, although I'm on rigevidon. It hasn't stopped the symptoms but having fewer periods is better for me physically as they are very painful. The only positive way to diagnose endo is through a laparoscopy but this "treatment " may help (especially in the short term). Personally I'd push for a lap to confirm though. Good luck x
Yasmin helped me for several years. I tri-cycled to reduce the amount of periods after having a cyst removed. However the endo was still there, I had two good years and then pain came back in right side.
You need a proper diagnosis. You don't want it to continue and get worse especially if you would like children one day.
