I'm due to Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on Tuesday but I've just realise I'm due on my period at the same time, does anyone know if this effects having it done?
I'm very irregular so there is a good chance I won't come on.
Can I also ask, what pre op are you suppose to have? When I was originally told I would need to have this done, the weigh me and took my blood but no one has discuss any of this with me. There was a mistake with my original referral which put me at the bottom of the waiting list and my GP wrote to the hospital and I got a call Wednesday to say I'm having it done Tuesday.
Thanks x

Having your period is absolutely fine. As one nurse put it to me ‘we see thousands of women a year and the majority of them are bound to be on their period - it’s simple maths’. My consultant even said it’s better as it would be easier to see the endo as it will be ‘active’ so I wouldn’t worry at all. If you are bleeding let the nurses know and they will give you some very fashionable paper knickers to stem the flow when in your hospital gown.
As for the other question I would call the hospital first thing Monday and make sure you’ve had the right pre-op. You don’t want to get to the day of your op for there to be a problem. Best to be safe than sorry xxx
