I am currently on the contraceptive pill. This was supposed to be temporary until I had my lap for stage 4 endo.
Had the lap last week but need a second lap at some stage as the surgeons ran out of time so didn’t get to remove everything.
They have recommended I start zoladex injections in preparation for the 2nd op.
Was previously put off zoladex because of the side effects but now thinking I should give it a go.
My question is how do I go from being on the pill to zoladex. Do I need to finish my current pack or can I have the injection now and just stop taking the pill?
I have made an appointment with my GP to discuss this but the earliest they can book me in is in 3 weeks time!

I just had my laparoscopy (to investigate and remove two chocolate cysts on my ovaries) I was on loestrin 30 for months beforehand to stop the bleeding.
The morning after the laparoscopy surgery the Dr said they wanted to do six months of Zoladex (to prepare for the second surgery)- so just stopped the loestrin 30 that morning- when starting the Zoladex injection.
But if you were using the pill as a contraceptive maybe email your gynaecologist secretary?
I started Zoladex just over a month ago, and have had the equivalent of two smaller bleeds since starting it. I wasn’t taking any contraception previously and seem to have got all my usual period symptoms with it, just dulled down somewhat.
On the whole zoladex has been ok - though not quite the miracle I was hoping for 😥 x
I had been taking the pill loestrin 30 since 24th December as the GP said do 3 months and then have a week break (to have a period)
I then went in for my operation 2nd March - 3rd March had my first Zoladex injection after consulting with the gynaecologist and they said I don’t need to continue with the loestrin 30 as it wasn’t anything to do with contraption- only to stop my bleeding.
So my last period was middle of December.
No you don’t want to spoil your holiday. Completely agree.
Well the bruising in my stomach is still there (from nearly three weeks ago!) and to think I have more to come.. I think I am going to be a bit of a pin cushion. But then again you can have people who do injections/take blood better than others.
That afternoon after having the injection my cheeks went really “slapped face” purple / pink really odd!
I had a couple of mini hot flashes - luckily at home and I am a cold person anyways.
The only thing that could be one of the side effects also have been the headaches / migraines Thursday, Friday and Monday. But just taking ibuprofen and paracetamol have got rid of it after a while luckily!
There is a lady I have seen post today I think and she has just finished 8 months of the injections - I was going to ask her how they have been for her.
But then again everyone is different.
Have a good holiday and I am here if you had any other questions.
