Hi, i’m 5 weeks after an emergency laparoscopy to remove severe endometriosis. Although I’m feeling a lot better, I am having quite a bit of pain in my lower bladder. I cannot cough properly as it hurts and even when walking it feels so heavy down there. It actually feels like something will fall out! Is this a normal pain to be experiencing?? Also I am getting the chills in the evening and then night sweats through the night. I am putting this down to the Prostap injection/Livial tablets although in the first month I didn’t really have these symptoms? I’m on my second month of them now.
I would really appreciate some feedback and/or your experiences of this.
Thanks Rae x

Hugs, it sounds like. You've been through the mill xxx
The night sweats are a GnRH side effect I had them from month one but I didn't have chills I don't think. Perhaps check the Pil leaflet?
I don't remember about the bladder, though mine was definitely sore for a while and I struggled to empty it settled relatively quick for me and I didn't feel heavy all the time (was the only thing that did). But I only had fairly small endo work done on bladder, mine was mostly bowel. if you are coughing or if you are worried I would contact a nurse at the hospital or your gp it's best to err on the side of caution and rule out any infection.
I also found this very useful in understanding the bodies reaction to major surgery and how long inflammation lasts. centerforendo.com/is-my-end...
And for 7quid on amazon there is what became my post op survival guide, which my physio gave me (all valid even if you don't have hysterectomy, especially if you have had bladder work) amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0079M...
Hi thanks for your advice. I just read the first link that you sent, lots of info 👍🏼 I guess everyone is different in their recovery as we’ve all had different op’s and procedures. I assumed it would literally be a couple of weeks recovery but seems feeling ‘normal’ can take months. I did have quite a bit done, adhesions on my bowel, uterus, right ovary and appendix (they removed that at the same time) I’ve yet to see my gynaecologist since the lap but he seemed really nice and informative and even showed me my pictures from the op!! I think if the pain continues I will speak to my GP or a nurse like you said just to settle my mind. It’s just a worry not knowing. I feel like I’m treating my tummy so delicately like I’m pregnant or something too! I have a very understanding family but I really don’t want to feel like I’m whining all the time, I just say I’m fine!
You probably had a roughly similar amount of work done and I was signed off initially for 6 weeks and told it could take up to 12 weeks. I had a 3.5 cm DIE nodule attaching my bowel to my vagina and extensive adhesions along with endo above ovaries on bladder and utero sacral ligaments. My vagina was badly damaged though and I lost 4cm and needed a partial vulvectomy and vaginal repair.
My 6 weeks became 6 or 7 months as unfortunately I contracted viral meningitis 4 days post op and that combined gave me all sorts of complications including reflux esophagitis and gastric issues and I went into a weight loss tail spin and only recently stabilised.
Ive been left with cfs and fibromyalgia symptoms and am finally trying to get back to work now initially on half days.
Oh you’ve been so poorly!! Bless you ❤️ You must of been in agony I’m not surprised it took so long for you to go back to work! I hope your work have been good and accommodating with you, as I’m sure that’s been stressing you out too. I hope you feel better quickly x
