Surgery this week!!! : Hey all ... I’m... - Endometriosis UK
Surgery this week!!!
When I went in I had a steaming cold and my heartate was through the roof with nerves. She thought it was bc I was looking at the machine but in reality I'm just severely anxious, but after like 15 minutes she said I was settled enough to do the op, so I'm sure it will go ahead x
I had a similar experience to yours. I had a laparoscopy and cystoscopy at the end of January. The morning I was admitted they took my heart rate and it was through the roof. I have been told this previously and that this is just the way I am! They were concerned about it at the hospital so I was sent for an ECG. It showed that although I had a fast heart rate that it was normal with no strange rhythms. When they took me to theatre I got pretty nervous so my already fast heart shot up further. The anaesthetist sedated me which brought it down a bit then he put me under. I was so stressed all morning that they wouldn’t go ahead but there really wasn’t anything I could do. Good luck, try not to overthink it. I know how nervous you will be feeling but there isn’t anything to worry about, everyone at the hospital will make you feel really at ease x
Just had my lap yesterday and thankfully all went well!
I made a point of staying busy in the days before my procedure - seeing friends, cinema, etc - to take my mind off it, as well as making plans for after the op to give me something to focus on on the other side.
Hope this helps and that everything goes well for you.
Your bound to be nervous, I had a huge cyst and ovary removed a couple of years ago and then last year another cyst and endo removed, everyone gets nervous but remember it needs to be done and focus how well you will feel after that’s all I kept thinking of, being pain free after it’s all settled..enjoy your time off and relax..I know you will be ok just keep focus xx
Do you know what exactly you are nervous about? Have you had previous surgeries that didn't go so well or heard other peoples stories?
My surgery is high risk due to a previous operation , I have a large scar over my abdomen , my consultatant told me this is where the laparoscopic goes where my scar is , I may have to get open surgery due to this , hence why I’m soo nervous! I wish they never told me it was high risk for me Think that why I’m soo nervous, I’m ready to get it done as I can’t take much more of living how I am living , no fun at all... could say it mixed feelings and that is no good for my nerves... my work is letting me finish early on Wednesday to get organised I plan to have a very chilled night , bath n early night hoping this will bring my blood pressure and heart rate down... thanks for everyone reply’s x
You should plan something nice post surgery so you have something to look forward to.
In one way having something dodgy means they take extra care of you and they will do.
I have lazy kidneys which makes me slightly dodgy haha.
Now you've told us, we are going to want 2 hourly obs about how ya doing! ( Just because we're nosy!) I'm joking.
It's ok to be a bit worried and stressed out. Most people are. They just don't tell you. Plus the medical and surgical team want a good outcome for you as well so they are going to be doing their best as well.I
We are here on your side to support you. Anything else get back!

Hi LolaLo3,
Sorry to hear you're feeling very nervous about the upcoming surgery. I had a high blood pressure too during my first surgery- they simply gave me a weaker anaesthetic. From my experience, deep, slow breathing exercises help- they reduce the blood pressure.
