Hey everyone, my heart palpitations have been getting increasingly worse and my blood pressure monitor keeps flashing red saying I have an abnormal heart rhythm (I get many skipped beats and can feel them in my chest and a very fast heart rate, my resting bpm is currently 123) and a really high blood pressure. The other day I was at hypertension stage 3 which is potentially dangerous apparently. I’ve measured my blood pressure everyday since and it’s been high many times.
I am currently on the evra patch which does a fair job to help with my symptoms but I think it might be the patch and the hormones that’s causing it? Other people have said they had heart palpitations too but idk. I could take the patch off completely but I don’t want to because I’m too scared of getting my period every month. Was going to ring my GP tomorrow morning but think they might just send me to the hospital for ECG’s etc :/
So I was thinking to switch to a different pill and wanted to know if anyone would recommend any? Which ones have the least side effects?
Update - Spoke to my doctor and she’s prescribed me with logynon. Has anyone tried this?

Heart palpitations are awful so I fully sympathise🙁 the hormones in the evra patch are apparently lower - so says my gp -than lots of combined pills and has the same amount of hormone as gederal (I used to use the patch and am now taking gederal as my gp doesn't think I can handle a lot of hormone).
If the hormones in the combined pill aren't agreeing with you, maybe try a progesterone only pill? I think they're meant to have less side effects but increase the risk of weight gain (can't win really 🙄).
Thanks for your advice! Oh wow I’ve heard the opposite about the evra patch - I’ve heard it’s got a higher level than others and more estrogen too!! I feel like gps and even some gynaes really dont know much about the pills etc. They all dish out different advice and false info which really annoys me. If you don’t mind me asking, did you used to get palpitations on the evra patch and is gederal a lot better for you? Does it help with your symptoms too and can you take it back to back?
Ah see my gp is a bit of a turd, so it wouldn't surprise me if he told me the wrong thing 🙄 so true! They tell you to take all this stuff and then get annoyed when you tell them it doesn't work 😑
I didnt get palpitations on the evra, and the only time I do when taking gederal is when I'm anxious (but that's my anxiety, not the pill hehe) it helped a lot with my symptoms, the pain got less and for some reason I was a weeing a lot at night (5+ times) and the gederal stopped that. It also made my periods shorter and lighter too. Yes you can take it back to back.
I found gederal works better for me than the patch or the God-awful depo injection I was on before, but of course everyone is different.
Ohh okay sounds good thanks for your help! Kind of hoping my palpitations etc are being caused by the patch rather than it being my natural heart rhythm!
I have a mirena coil, which I have found is good for me, before I had a copper coil, which has no hormones in it,don't know if something like this would work for you. Good luck. X
