At my gynaeo appointment yesterday, I got the all clear to come off the pill for a small break, which isn't ideal but I'll take anything at the minute. She's put me on a new pill as she's said I can't be off it for too long as it might affect my fertility, as she thinks I have small patches of endo which were kept at bay by the pill (which is what I wanted to hear after a negative lap). So for now I'm off the pill, dreading the crippling heavy periods to come, paracetamol and ibuprofen barely touch it but I'm looking forward to the impact it will have on my mood!

Appointment Update
Aww no
If she thinks there is endo; how come the lap didn't find anything? Have you checked for PCOS or any other things? The girls on here could advise. She is right though the pill would make endo dormant while on it however whenever you have a breakthrough bleed (gap in-between the packs) the endo can grow and spread. So she may advise back to back pills.
Crippling heavy periods are not normal, pill or not, so those should be checked out. If you're using the pill just for the endo then there are other things you could do / take that could help, some of the girls may be able to suggest on experience.
Yes endo can cause problems with fertility, but staying on the pill for long periods can also; it has been shown that the body can take a while to develop normal cycles again and actually produce an egg with each cycle after years of being on the pill.
Just some thoughts!! It's best to find out what's causing you to feel unwell - I'm always one for finding the root cause of something then figuring out what can be done. I feel doctors are too quick to offer the pill without wanting to look into what could be causing the person to feel this way. I was ignored for 10 years; put straight on the pill at 18 as they said it would help, but didn't talk about long term effects or what to do later in my life. I thought painful periods (and all the other endo symptoms) were normal, until recently.
Yeah I've told them about my painful periods since they started when I was twelve, they didn't seem majorly concerned and then it was put down to endo and now, even with clear lap,the gynaeo thinks there are small spots they missed which can be causing the pain which is why she's keen to stop them all together, which has never sat right with me. I'd happily have a period if it didn't mean three days in bed and feeling awful, and I can't keep missing work. Being off the pill is what I wanted but if it's going to cause me this much pain and flare up any endo that they missed then I might end up having to go back on it anyway x
Just a thought but if your periods are heavy and crippling have you explored the possibility of adenomyosis within the uterus lining?
Yeah I was told before my womb was too big but since surgery was clear no one seems to have looked into this amd on the pill they were tolerable x
I may be wrong but I thought a lap would not Identify adeno as it looks outside the womb. Did they also do a hysteroscopy and take biopsies?
Yeah I was told a Lap wouldn't identify it either but the surgeon said everything looked normal and discharged me and as I was in the middle of moving house and jobs I've not really followed anything up since then, this appoint mentioned yesterday was the first amd she just told me to go back on another pill to manage symptoms but seems like my body really can't handle not having a periods as in four years on the pill they've never stopped or slowed x
