Has anyone come off the pill and symptoms stayed the same? I was put on the pill (without being asked) after a hospital admission in april. I have been near enough in the same amount of pain since and im wondering if its a bad idea to come off the pill? No one really tells you what it does to your body and i hope to have a child in the future. Im currently taking codine and tramadol for the pain so im not even sure the pill is doing anything. Anyone got any advice?

The pill and endometriosis
Hey, I’m not sure which you’re taking. Or how. I take Mercilon back to back and break for a week after 3 packets.
The logic is:
1. Less periods, less horrendous period pain. It’s tip of the ice burg for me though, as I’m in daily pain now anyway. (Also regularly taking codine)
2. Faux hormones should hinder your own natural ones, ergo not feeding the endometriosis which should prevent growth/it getting worse. People will dispute this, I'm no doctor but my severe problems started when I stopped taking contraception. I had no issues before. Hard to know if it’s helping or simply masking though!
Not sure this helps I’m sorry!
I have no idea what ones im taking either abahah! That does help thank you, ive been told to take them constantly i just think they affect my mood too, hormones are not nice!
That sounds like progesterone only if you’re having no break, maybe. I’m on my fourth pill, some just aren’t right for certain people. I was suicidal/throwing tantrums at work on some so completely understand that!
Ahh thank you for your reply!!!
I was on Microgynon for many years, with little if any issues and when I came off (due to ocular migraines) my endo symptoms returned with a vengeance. The pill only masks what’s going on “underneath” hormonally. Each women is different, what works for one, won’t work for another, this is particularly true of endometriosis and how it presents itself individually.
I'm currently on the combined pill and I've tried others before. I'd say my period pain is the same when I'm on the pill vs off it, the main difference is that I get fewer of them (I take 6 packets in one go). As Tangoandmax said, the idea is to prevent it worsening by reducing the number of periods. The main thing that helps me is to start taking naproxen (which I'm prescribed for period pain) 2-3 days before my period starts. It doesn't completely get rid of the pain, but my god I can get out of bed and I'm not glued to the toilet! It's so much better. But yeah the pill is making me an emotional wreck lol
