Worried about bleeding (TMI?)

SufferingSilently9 profile image

Right so for the past 2 weeks, my body has been very annoying.

I'm having discharge daily, that begins with very light brown flecks that stop soon after I wake up. A few hours later, my cramps get worse and I have what I can only describe as honey-like discharge (orange ish and like sticky goop). Then, every evening, I feel sharp stabbing pains in my lower abdomen and suddenly get a rush of very bright red blood - and I continue to bleed from about 4.30pm to 11pm until I go to bed and once again wake up with the lightest of brown spotting on my pad.

My cramps are constant but change throughout the day - I can typically tell when I'm "leaking" etc due to change in feeling.

It's freaking me out as I'm on the contraceptive pill and have taken in through in order to stop my periods and subsequent pain but it isn't working.

Can someone advise what I should do? I'm fed up of this daily cycle.

I’d say this is a fairly normal side effect of the mini pill I’m afraid. How long have you been taking the pill for? I’ve had bleeding that was a little like that for four months on the mini pill...if you hate it that much try and swap pills or go off it altogether x

I've been taking the pill for a little over 3 years and never had it this strange, I switched in September to a different one that helped my periods more and then went on provera tablets for 30 days over Christmas but switched back straight after. This is the best pill I've tried but this bleeding is annoying and my pain is getting worse.

I’d switch pills. This can happen sometimes...I have endo and the mini pill makes my periods extremely painful. Go to your doctor and they can help x

I've previously mentioned switching pills to my doctor but my choices are either my current one (cilest - which I have been taking without breaks on doctors guidance due to uncontrollable bleeding), my original one (rigevidon - which didn't do anything but slightly regulate my period) or provera tablets (which gave me horrid side effects).

Thanks for your help, I might take a trip back to my gp again and see what he says.
