Hi, I'm 18 years old, turning 19 in 3 days. Lately I've been stressing and worried about an issue that has been going on (with my period.. Sorry if this gets detailed) In my past period, I have experienced a late period, but then it started flowing normal, however, About 3 days ago It was late again and I checked to see brown discharge and kinda got worried. That happened the second day too but then I started getting red blood (my normal colour) and felt a bit relieved. But I started worrying more because it's been very very light. There is hardly any bleeding except for when I have to force it while I'm in the bathroom (sorry.. Disgusting.. Too much info) and sometimes it won't come out at all, except for when I wipe... There's a little blood (normal colour) yesterday, before bed, I checked and there was lots of blood, so I changed my pad and went to sleep. I woke up this morning and checked. No blood. I'm really worried about this because everytime I search on the internet it talks about ovarian cancer. I don't have many of the symptoms but only light bleeding. Also, I'm not pregnant because I'm strictly a virgin. What could it be? Worried... :/
(Btw another reason why I'm worried is cause I'm not getting the normal period cramps I usually get on my period. But, I know I'm definitely on my period and it's not unrelated to menstruation. Thanks for reading...)

Hi, try not to worry, if I was you I would go to your Gp,
How are your periods normally, pain? Flow? Ect
If your Gp dosnt follow anything up or just tells you it's normal for your age, start a period diary, and keep an eye on it for a few months, if it all keeps being odd, strange and different go back and ask for gyne appointment,
I'm scared to see the GP and stuff lol... I mean I don't have pain and this only happened once... Except for it being late.. Idk I'm just concerned if it's something bad tho
I would say it's just that, a one off, you are still young and we all experience out of the ordinary periods occasionally, just keep that diary and see how you go over the next few months
I have exactly the same. Some discharge at the start but not really much, if any, blood on a pad only way I go to the loo. I was worried as I thought I was drying up ☺️ However I still had period pains. I told my gynae and he did a pelvic examine and a lap and told me I have stage 2/3 endo. Not the best news but better than cancer. Have you been diagnosed with endo? xx
No, I haven't been diagnosed with endo:/ I had an ultrasound almost about a year ago and my GP said there was nothing wrong with my ovaries etc but I had to have a lap to see if It's endometriosis, but I was scared about the lap so I said I didn't want it and he said if the pain I get kept coming back to go see him so I could get it and all. Just really afraid if it's something so bad
I was terrified about having a lap done too but it's the only way to get a definite answer and it honestly wasn't too bad at all. Could you talk to your mum and get her to go to the dr with you? If you're embarrassed to talk to her write her a letter or show her this post. I think you should definitely go just to put your mind at ease. Also if your taking the contraceptive pill this can also affect your flow. xx
Right now I'm at a foreign country and I'm from Australia, I'll be going back in about 2 months or so.. Also, I just don't want to go to a doctor HERE i don't trust it I guess i dunno :/ scared... But I'll be asking again when I'm back. Idk if it's "OVARIAN Cancer" because the symptom for that is no appetite and I'm hungry every 4 seconds, also it says heavy period symptom so I feel like the internet is just trying to confuse me cause my period is nowhere near heavy at this moment but I wish it was cause that's my normal period type. ---sad---
Hi. I wouldn't worry too much. I have about 5 days of 'varying' bleeding before my period actually starts. It can be brown/pink/red and change from spotting to small gushes to constant light bleeding. It never used to be that way, but since the endo has progressed my periods have really changed. It's most likely related to the endo. Take care. X
Hi, I can relate :/ but at first I could.. a little update though. My period has stopped and it's only been 3 I was BARELY bleeding. It stopped this morning and there's no blood at all, except for when I wipe only a watery very very light brown close to some green or yellow discharge. It's worrying me so much but i don't want to go to a GP here and go through all that. Will be returning back to Australia in about 1 month or 2 and I guess I'll see the doctor then.. Right now, I'm getting period cramps but once again, no blood. It's so frustrating I just want to cry.
I'm not sure... I got my period late once in the past but it was heavy later on and normal but A few days ago (this time) it was late and I saw brown discharge thinking it was coming (A few days ago). After the brown light discharge, I started having the normal red blood for about 3 days hardly (very light flow... Unless I pushed for it to drip) today there's no blood at all I guess it stopped.. I haven't got bloating or anything but I do have some indigestion sometimes... Like I get a hungry sensation in my stomach but not as hungry as I feel... I eat how I normally eat.) what do you think it sounds like?? Thanks for the replies x
Is there any possibility that you could be pregnant? Might be worth doing a test to rule it out if there's any possibility at all. If not then it sounds as there's some kind of imbalance with your hormones that could be causing it. X
No, not at all. I stated in my post I'm strictly a version with 0 chance of being pregnant haha.. and I guess :/ this is just the first time ever my period was light... That's the reason why I got worried..
Ok sorry I must have missed that. I wouldn't worry too much. I'm guessing it's probably a hormone imbalance then? See how it goes over the next couple of months and if it's continuing and still worrying you then see a doctor when you get home. In the mean time make the most of having light periods! It happens like that for me from time to time and I definitely make the most of it because my periods are usually very heavy. x
