How long does a flare up last?

I had a laparoscopy in October and was in severe pain for weeks after. The pain had began to improve recently and I could go days without pain killers and would then wake up in the middle of the night in severe pain but usually by the morning it would have subsided. This happened Tuesday night I woke up shaking uncontrollably in severe pain having had relatively low pain for over a week, it improved by the morning and was tolerable but returned with a vengeance that night one of the worst pain I’ve ever experience, it continued into Thursday and Friday afternoon then subsided then returned yesterday and hasn’t gone. The gp gave me ponstan on Friday but it hasn’t helped much... I’m wondering if it’s a flare up or could it be something else? The gp didn’t seem to concerned the other day so maybe it’s just a flare. Typically how long do flares last?

I take it you had treatment. If so then yes it is normal. I found the pain improved over time but never gos away. After my first laparoscopy and laser treatment, I went too my to my gp, He told me that it will improve but I will never be pain free. My pain up until the last few years has got very bad again, was about once a month and lasted between 2 and 20 minutes. I have had problems for over 25 years. I am going back to my gp again as I can't take the pain anymore. I have on top of this constant on of symptoms of uti and IBS. Hysterectomy for me. Hope things work out for you. There are lots more treatment's available out there everyone is different. I am only just finding out now because I was never told. Just remember it is not normal too be in pain.

I can have pains for weeks and then they go for one week and come back again 😮 Could you look at your diet? Something that you ate or used could of caused the flare 😮 Like for me gluten and eggs cause me so much pain 😂

I've only recently been diagnosed. I only ever suffered pain around my period so I don't think it's food related as I would have had pain not during my period also. It's just strange as I'm in way more pain now than I ever was before surgery! I have been on Yasmin with no break for nearly 4 months so I shouldn't be in pain as I'm not ovulating.. Did certain foods always effect your pain or did it only develop recently? Maybe it's possible that food now has a role in my pain, do you have food intolerances or you have just noticed certain foods cause your pain? Sorry for all the questions!

Aww I'm part of the everyday pain crew but mine maybe caused by gastro disorders 😮 Many women though that have endo even if the pain just occurs during a certain time they find it better cutting certain foods out thats causing them pain its a about listening to your own body but the main things women cut down on because the cause pain or inflamation are red meat, soya, dairy, gluten, alcohol 😮 My food intolerances suddenly occured last year thats why I'm unsure if they are caused by gastro disorders 😮 Food wont be the main cause of the pain though 😮 I'd keep a food diary see what irritates your body more then cut down on that food the month after 😮 Xx

That’s not normal if the laparoscopy has made your pain worse. Can you go back and see the surgeon and ask them?? Sometimes it is a nerve pain and they use different medications.. neuropathic pain. It may not be endo. Causing these terribly pains. Why would it get worse after surgery?
