Waiting times
Yes for NHS unfortunately the waiting times can be long
Yeah it’s normal! As stupid as it is. But you can call up for an cancellation, they will call if they anyone cancels but they can call on the same day or a week later not at all. X
Are there any other places you can be referred to? My GP was good and went through a list of gynaecology services I could be referred to and advised me on waiting times. I still had to wait 3 months for my appointment but it was better than some of the waiting times my GP advised me of
I waited 9 months and that was after my GP referred me twice. It’s frustrating but things will get moving once you finally get seen
Unfortunatly this is normal and they will make you wait linger if they could, i waited months for a consultation app only to have it also cancelled twice am still waiting, its rediculous and the whole time your in pain an symptoms are getting worse, i am an urgent patient who is still waiting and after the consulting i will have to wait yet again for proceedure, this is why many people are going private if you are in a position to do so, they say steer clear of stress as it will make matters worse well the waiting is the stressfull part,so yes hun it is normal for most of us.
Wow that seems very long- especially if you are in lots of pain.
I know if varies by county but that seems long- mine is normally a 4 month wait ( but my fertility doctor got me an appointment with a gynae within 2 months!)
Can your GP not refer you to a private hospital that takes NHS patients to reduce your waiting time? Some let GPs give you the choice of a few hospitals-choose and book service.
I would tell your GP the length of time and explain the level of pain you are in. Perhaps the GP can push it through quicker for you, also get the GP to manage your pain so at least you are pain free.
Failing that I’d be tempted to see a private gynaecologist that works both nhs and privately for a consultation , just to speed things up. If if gets decided that a laparoscopy is needed the consultant can transfer you onto their nhs list ☺️ Personally if I was you with that wait ahead that is what I would do! xoxo
Hi, I read an article about NHS waiting times in England this week. It said that currently 95% people are seen within 23 weeks. It varies quite a bit from place to place and by specialty, so that’s an average. Apparently gynaecology isn’t the worst.
The target in the NHS constitution is for people to be seen within 18 weeks. That target, along with many others, were not met in 2017. Sadly that’s just how it is at the moment. The number of people waiting over a year is also on the rise.
So eight months is a hell of a long time to wait, but you’re not alone.
If you feel like its getting too long I went to my doctor and asked to chase up my referral and a few days after I got a letter for the referral 🤔
