Anyone on the GaPP2 trial? Was sent a leaflet about it today, is it worth it? Is there lots of travelling bc I'd have to take days from work to go down to Birmingham. I wouldn't say my pain was crippling daily and the idea if even taking painkillers daily doesn't seem right to me, it's more the fatigue and the ache I can't deal with, so I'm not sure if to proceed or not.

GaPP2 trial - thoughts?
Hi, I’m not part of the study but I did have a trial of gabapentin under my GP. You may find that’s an option.
I did some reading and my understanding is that it works for nerve pain rather than muscle pain. In other words it isn’t going to help with cramps. I tried it for sharp pains I was getting in my rectum, like a knife up the bum. It did get better but I wasn’t sure if it was the gabapentin or not. I don’t get that kind of pain continuously so it may have just faded anyway. My GP gave me a supply so next time the sharp pain comes I’m going to try again.
One if the issues is that it is a drug you have to start gradually, building up the dose over a few days. There are some example titration schedules online. It means you can’t just take it when you need it. So best used for sharp pain that persists.
I hope that helps.
Thank you, mines more a dull ache near my ovary with occasional sharp pain down the legs but idk if it's enough to warrant it, I might try and then see what they say bc you get 4 weeks where you have to measure your pain before they decide if you benefit x
Might be worth trying... From what I read the sharp stabbing pain is the kind it is most likely to help.
I took it for about four weeks before tailing it off. I got very few side effects, just a bit of nausea. I think that’s the most common one and you just need to build up the dose slowly to avoid it.
I hope it helps.
Yeah mines like a stabbing pain between crotch and leg but idk if it's muscles or not, but I'll give it a go, thanks for the help! x
