For anyone who has taken the route of managing their endo symptoms with diet, have you found any difference by cutting out dairy?
It seems to be a grey area and although conventional dairy seems to be the cause of inflammation it seems organic doesn't. Also the problem here seems to be that it contains oestrogen, however i am reading conflicting theories on how it should either be stopped completely, to just cutting back and finally to not needing to cut out at all because the oestrogen levels are so low that they wont have any effect on the human body.
What's your personal experience with cutting out dairy. Have you found its made a difference or not? And if you have the odd splash of milk in your coffee or food does that even make a difference in symptoms?
It's getting confusing. Can somebody please shed any light on whether it needs to be cut out, cut down or just eaten without any problems.
There is lots of advice out there for endo and the suggestion of cutting out dairy, when you are looking at alternatives you need to be careful too because soya milk also has oestrogen in there so it can be tricky.
I'm exploring different options currently and trying to tag it in with gluten free as well because I seem to get worse symptoms if I've had too much gluten as well.
Yes I've been gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy free for a while now. Also stopped all junk/processed etc. I am actually on a plant-based diet and its helping although i am annoyed with having lost so much weight. (never thought id say that!) Dairy has been the hardest to cut out so i am just wondering on how bad it really is, even if just occasional. I can't seem to find the answer. ><
Hi, I think along with what is out there you should read the signs of your boddy. I found out I am ok with Diary but wheat & sugar are the culprits. I do go organic and goat milk & cheese when I can as my boddy respond better. (I love dairy as well)
On the non dairy alternatives I found that there is so much ingridients that it did upset my hormones.
Guess it could be a personal thing.... What upsets one person, doesn't another etc. Sounds fair. Thanks for that! I don't have a problem with dairy (never did) but when you hear it has high oestrogen then obviously you freak out and want it gone
Obviously its trial and error at this stage. Want to control this endo thing and am just careful on eating anything that may aggravate it. I like you have found gluten and sugar to be the worst and dont regret cutting them out. It's just dairy.
I cut out milk and replaced with Almond milk and noticed almost immediately. Someone said the hormones from the cow was effecting mine so thought I would try and it really does make a huge difference. Oat milk is really nice too x
Thanks! Yes i was just learning yesterday how to make my own oat milk, seems easy enough. I just miss the cheese, especially mozzerella, Edam and feta. sigh...😣
I think it is really specific to the individual. I haven’t cut anything out (I just can’t!🤷♀️) but I have definitely cut back on dairy and sugar, and I know it when I’ve had too much. So much bloating - sometimes pain.
You made me laugh! Yes its hard isnt it? I feel like my 'not allowed' food list is just getting longer and longer to the point where all i am eating now is plant based foods and although great, i miss having some normality and just wondering how bad can the occasional treat be?! :D. Lost so much weight and looking terrible so i just want some weight back!
Cutting out dairy makes the biggest difference to me, I have found oat milk helps as an alternative. Really reducing meat also helps but I have not cut it out altogether as too hard to do when my kids seem to only eat the meat in every meal! I still eat eggs and find they don't seem to affect my symptoms.
Hi Mulan64. I am dairy free since May last year. I have 2 cups of decaff coffee a day, sometimes with a bit of normal milk, sometimes with oat milk. My body appears to be able to take this very little bit of milk, but nothing more. I have tried to have a normal yoghurt, but my tummy reacted badly, by what felt like twisting bowels, swelling, pain, diarrhoea. Not worth it! 😕 I am happy with coconut milk (no fat), oat milk or almond milk, this last one is the creamiest and should help you put some weight back on. Also, coconut milk in tins is more like cream, you can add it to decaff coffee, hot chocolate makes it very creamy. Also, if you leave a tin of coconut milk in the fridge overnight, the following day, drain the water and you can whisk the cream, you have whipped cream, for cakes, etc. Coconut cream in homemade korma is very onctuous too. 😋😊
I am sure there are some good recipes with almond milk too.

That's what i was wondering, how bad can a splash of milk in your morning coffee be? ( I really don't like bitterness that comes with just straight black coffee)
I make the bulletproof coffee recipe ( 1tbsp of coconut oil, 1 tbsp of butter and a little cinnamon and whizz that up in a blender and becomes really nice and creamy) so that's an alternative and as delicious as it is, it's not something i can stomach all the time. Its also referred to as the Keto coffee. It's meant to help you lose weight but if you're not doing Keto it has the opposite effect so that's what i am hoping for!
But something tells me that this weight loss is just endo -related and its not something that's going to go away easily until this endo thing is controlled, hopefully eliminated!

Hi there I’ve been having a read through your post and just thought I’d mention be careful with oat milk some have gluten in!its to do with the grain they use.it must be gluten free oat milk !x
also I understand the weight loss I’m too skinny now due to the endo diet what I’ve done is now I know what I’m eating I increase the amount of it and have an extra meal before bed to put weight back on
I don't seem to have much appetite at the moment. I don't know why. I am doing my best to stick to this diet and make sure i get it all right but I am getting overwhelmed with having to do EVERYTHING from scratch especially on my flare-ups days that I just get tired of it all.
Wishing the days back when i could just grab a sandwich or a fruit yoghurt or even have some cereal!. Sigh... It's all becoming so hard I can hardly keep up sometimes..
It is hard but your allowed a break I find buying frozen veg cuts down on prep and sometimes I have gluten free oats and banana which is quick and easy
All i seem to be eating is oats most of the time because its the easiest thing out there. Like you with bananas or any fruit and cinnamon. Hummus with veg sticks also another one. However anything else is a chore.
You can also cook in batches and freeze. I do this with mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. Also, if you mash mango, you can freeze it and, hey presto, you have mango ice cream. Your little ones would love it! 😊🍧
I don't like mango sorry,( fussy eater here) just not into most exotic fruits (I like figs though) I am more a berries gal (blueberries being my favourite). Would using berries work?
Sorry, I haven't done the berry ice cream. It would be worth looking into it. However, you can buy frozen berries and make milk shakes with them by adding either nuts, plant milk, banana, possibly oat. It's another solution. Whatever you try, please let me know.
