Back to see the surgeon today for a post op consultation. During surgery they told me that my pelvis was fused and I'd likely need further intensive surgery. (I heard nothing back for over a month after surgery and then finally an appointment came through for March! How can they give you news like this and expect you to wait 6 months to hear the details?! However, I rang and was lucky to get a cancellation apt for today)
I am wondering what questions to ask though - I am SO useless at these appointments, I don't ask enough questions and sit there like a mouse - anyone got any tips or been through this and knows what to ask?? Thank you

The best thing to do is write a list of questions and take it with you. It's also worth asking them to show you the op photos and talk you through them. Are you being seen at a bsge centre?
Make sure you ask them exactly what they found and where. Ask if they checked your pouch of douglas and diaphragm/liver. If there is any mention of bowel or bladder disease, then you need to ask about being referred to a bsge centre. It may also be worth asking about severity - again, if they say that the disease is severe, this is a job for a bsge centre. I would also talk through drug treatments and pain relief options. Remember that they are not there to tell you what to do, it is a collaborative effort which requires them to work with you to figure out what is the best path for you.
