So I have been hoping to get a Laparoscopy and now I have a date for it I'm really nervous about it. I'm trying to focus on the positives of having answers, hopefully finding out what is causing the pain but I can't help worrying about all the things that could go wrong. I'm lucky that it is at 8am so I won't have all day to worry but I'm likely to not sleep much the night before! Anyone have any tips for taking my mind off? I know it won't be as bad as I'm imagining but it's hard. I haven't had an operation before.

Laparoscopy
This is going to sound really stupid but I didn’t sleep the night before out of worry and the thing I found easiest was just distracting myself, just keep your mind busy and stay off google and webMD! Do whatever you want to make yourself calm, yoga, Netflix binge, have a bath with candles, cleaning, ironing, reading, whatever floats your boat, just keep busy! And you’re having surgery so you’re allowed to be selfish and do whatever you want to do! Good luck! 🙌🏻❤️
Hi, had my Laparoscopy today.Like you, I didn't sleep at all the night before. Was pretty anxious and my blood pressure was sky high when I got there! Everything appears clear from my Laparoscopy, didn't actually say no endo found but said all healthy. Not sure where I'll go from here as confused as to what may be causing the pain now! How are you getting on now?
What I did was look up tons of things for me to be prepared for my lap. I couldn’t do anything to keep my mind off of it because I was so scared since it was my first surgery. It made me feel better getting an idea of what’s going to happen and what to expect after.
I have many posts on my page of my concerns up until the procedure and the healing process after. Feel free to message me if you have any questions x
I had my lap nearly 2 weeks ago after 2 years of battling with my doctor to get referred. I suffer with anxiety and it was my first op, my op was the first one of the day so like you I was lucky I didn’t have to wait all day. Like others have said try and keep yourself busy and think of the positives like getting the answers to your pain. I wasn’t great on the day but the nurses were amazing where I went, they know people are nervous and will keep you talking all the time you are there. You will be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for a few days but it does get better, make sure when your recovering you get up and move about as I found it helped.
I hope it goes ok and you get the answers you want xx
How long was your recovery? Nearly 2 weeks on, have you recovered?
I’m still recovering at the moment 2 of my cuts have healed but my belly button is still healing which is apparently normal. I go back to work next week and I know I will have to take it slow. It also depends on what they do, I did have endometriosis and they cut mine out instead of burning it. I was a bit sore for about 5 days and I went out with a friend on the 5th day I was very tired and sore when I got home but it did help.
