Bowel issues 😢

For the last 8 months I've been having bowel issues.

At least once a month I've been getting excruciating stomach cramps in my lower abdomen which radiates and feels like a deep burning in my lower back.

I then get a bowel movement the cramps ease then shortly after it happens again and I end up doubled up rocking backwards and forwards on the toilet in tears then I get severe diahorrea. This goes on for upto 4 hrs until what feels like I've completely evacuated my bowels. Then I just feel raw for days after.

It's not in sync with my period as I've been on zoladex for 18 mths now I'm on the pill and still getting it.

I've had spots of endo on my bowel before and just wondering if it's likely endo on the bowel.

I had a colonoscopy a few years ago but everything was normal.

Just wondered if anyone had similar symptoms? xx

I had symptoms like this through my 20's (I was undiagnosed at the time). I would get random bouts of diarrhoea, always at night, lasting for several hours, with nausea and terrible cramping. No-one else in the house would be ill so it wasn't a bug or food poisoning. I managed it with diet changes - I found cutting out dairy for a few months would give me some relief from it. In hindsight I am sure it was endo related as when I was finally diagnosed I had rectovaginal and bowel endo.

That said, it is still worth seeing your GP about it as a clear colonoscopy a few years ago doesn't mean that things haven't changed since then and there can be other causes.

Hi I had really bad bowel symptoms and painful and heavy periods and have alleviated them with a combination of progesterone cream, probiotic supplements and a vegan diet which is also free of wheat and processed soya. (Carolyn Levett' s Endometriosis Diet book). I tried it out of desperation and within a few months I felt much better and more scientifically, improved CA125 tests showed that my level of inflammation had dropped dramatically ! The diet etc has helped me control my endo to occasional twinges rather than virtually constant pain. I no longer need to take painkillers. In my experience it is well worth trying this natural approach though not easy to do.

Hi, I was just wondering how you're getting on with your journey? Have you been diagnosed or any clearer about diagnosis since posting this? It sounds a lot like what I'm going through at the moment so any advice would be really helpful. Thanks.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2006 and my last lap in 2015 showed severe Endo.

I still carry onto have tho issue unfortunately but I’m trying to put off having another lap for as long as possible.

Who knows when I eventually have the next one it may show the endometriosis in an area to explain my bowel issues x

Thanks so much for replying. May I ask why you are wanting to put off the laparoscopy for as long as possible? (I haven't had one so not 100% sure about what it involves etc.)
