Do you need a catheter in place for this surgery?
I think I'm more worried about having a catheter than the surgery 😂

Didn't for surgery 1 but did for 2&3 and honestly it's a godsend. They put it in when you are out and it's painless to have removed. Much easier than trying to get out of bed and move around immediately after the op.
Not routinely for a diagnostic unless you struggle to see for 24 hours post op.
I had a catheter after my major excision op and tbh it was an absolute godsend as I'd had so much bladder issues after the diagnostic. It didn't hurt a bit and let my bladder settle just for that first 24 hours.
I did not have one placed because I emptied my bladder right before I was taken back.
I didn't have one. I appreciated the opportunity once I'd come round to get up and use the toilet and at the same nurse helped me into own pants and comfortable clothes.
I wasn't told beforehand that I may have a catheter so it was quite a shock when I woke up to find one inserted. It wasn't painful just a surprise if you weren't expecting it.
Wishing you all the best with your laparoscopy
