Prostap injection 5 months ago.

Hi I'm m new to the group and looking to see if anyone has had the same problems. I had 1 injection in april this year and had severe joint pains, hot sweats, night sweats, lack of sleep. The injection was to shut down my ovaries for 3 months until i had my hysterectomy in july. I'm now 4 weeks post op but still having the unwanted side effects. Consultant said they symptoms normally last 12 weeks so I'm the lucky one it's lasted longer than it should. Has anyone been like this as it's nothing fortunate about it. I'm only 37 and feel like my menopause has been brought on properly earlier. I cant take hrt. I'm just at my wits end now and it's getting me down.

It could be that your ovaries have temporarily switched off after the hysterectomy as the surgery can sometimes disturb ovarian function. Might be best to see your GP/consultant and ask for advice. I have had prostap but I had my ovaries removed with my hyst back in March. I could definitely still feel the effects of the prostap for a good couple of months after the surgery but it does get better. x.

Thank you that's what i was thinking but it's not helping my recovery as I'm not sleeping properly. I know it's still early stages.
