Good evening everyone. Just wondered if any of you have been prescribed amitriptyline for endo pain. I've got pain running down my left left leg (from my tail bone to my knee) and have been prescribed amitriptyline alongside my usual pain killers. Apparently it's most commonly used as an anti depressant but can be effective for nerve pain. I'm feeling hopeful that it will be a short term fix as I've got more surgery planned for the end of August but would love to hear your feedback. Thanks 😊

Amitriptyline
I was given in a few months ago as a sleeping pill and I had to stop taking it because I couldnt function the next day, it did help with my back pain but maybe I was just so out of it to notice! x
Also if you can get hold of a pill cutter then maybe just take half a tablet each evening for a week to get used to it and then increase to the one tablet after that. I've not dared go up to 2 tablets as I'm worried I'll be far too tired the next day. Also you're right they do use for depression but apparently in a much stronger dose. Don't worry too much about that as lots of meds have multi use.xx
Hi yes I've had this when I had severe endo and I'm on it again now as my ovaries are stuck with adhesions again. I too get pain right down the leg. I was unsure if it helped the pain but I'd had a few good days this week and then forgot to take my amitryptiline last night and I'm agony today. Could be a coincidence or it could mean it actually helps when I take it! Lol.
It does knock you out for the night though so getting a good nights sleep is a bonus when you're in pain. One bit of advice though is take it every evening at about 8/8:30. I wouldn't take any later else you'll struggle to function the next day. The first few days you may feel wiped but once used to it it's not so bad.
Good luck for your surgery. I'm waiting for an op to remove adhesions and they're taking my right ovary out this time too as it's so problematic.xx
Hi. This works really well for me,I wasn't sure about taking it ( I really need to stop googling!) but after a week getting used to it ( I went really dozey!) I noticed a reduction in the pain in my hips and down both legs. I didn't increase the dose I stuck to one tablet a day. Give your body time to adjust and I hope it helps your pain. Xx
I was given it as an anti depressant but read it's used for pain so when I was having really bad pains during the day I took one and literally flew round Asda all jolly haha
Thank you. I look forward to feeling jolly soon. Glad it helped you too. 😊
