Hi hun. I had one in January. It's not that bad I was awake for mine I let the nurses talk me out of it and it hurt a little going in but then was fine over with quick seeing did sting really bad for a day. I just kept wetting a fresh flannel every time I went and put it over while I was weeing not very glamorous but it helped. I seen it on one born every minute once when a lady was giving birth and thought I'll definitely use that trick if I give birth naturally unfortunately I didn't and had c section but that's off topic. That's my experience and that's what I did with the stinging wee but after a day it was over with. Just drink lots of water get system flushed it's the best thing you can do.
Thank u for the flannel tip! Had it done yesterday under GA as was very anxious. Weeing as u said really stings and passing bit of blood but did the flannel trick this morning and helped!
I have had 2 cysoscopies, both under general anaesthetic. I came back from surgery with a catheter in which was removed after 2 hours as I had bladder stretch and he left fluid in my bladder. Yes, trying to wee after is extremely painful but only lasts a couple of days. I also had nerve block at base of my spine which lasted a fee hours after surgery so walking was a bit of an issue!! I was offered this as I was told the procedure is quite painful. Mine was private so not sure NHS would offer the block. I think if its a rigid cystoscopy it has to be done under general, flexible can be done with local. What sort are you having? Mine was to diagnose interstitial cystitis hence it was rigid with bladder distension. Afterwards it painful for about a week.
Flexible and is also private... just worried about after and how painful will be!!! I had big op two years ago and had catheter and weeing after than was a bit uncomfortable so wondering if it's just like that ?
I had one and was quite nervous. I was awake and it's really was ok. Few moments of discomfort (mild) and over very quick. I get constant uti's, and had a nasty one after a catheter during an op last year, that took three months to clear, but I was absolutely fine after cystoscopy. I have to have it repeated in three months, which is now only a couple of weeks away and I'm not worried at all. Please don't get too anxious about it. It will hopefully help answer some questions for you. Everyone's experiences are different but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine! ππxx
They think I passed kidney stones. And possible uti and cause of my history of endometriosis they wanted to check bladder. Go back to see consultant this week but follow up letter said no bladder pathology but multiple telangiectasia?? Will find out what this means when I see him..
Hi I'm having the same the 26th. I'm a male and very nervous even having nightmare, but I'm going to have it done with with a local anastatic gel. Also the same day a prostrate biopsy. So good luck post your feelings about your app.
