Hi I am similar age to you and also have small fibroids and DUB. The really bad bleeding started in the second year of perimenopause. After blood transfusion, they suggested partial hysterectomy which I was reluctant to have. So they then recommended progesterone in the form of the Mirena Coil which I have now had for three months. Bleeding is now under control.

They say the coil should work for about 4 years. Then I have the option of a second coil if in between, the bleeding comes back with a vengeance. If at any time the progesterone stops working I will first try the herb, Agnus Castus and failing that I will go ahead with the partial hysterectomy. I am just trying to buy a bit of time before I have the op.

I was told that any type of progesterone whether oral or coil may work long term or may only work for a while. They said oral progesterone is less likely to work. Hence me having the coil. So its a wait and see situation. But sounds good for you so far.
