Haven't posted in a while.Hospital kept messing my appointments around. Anyway had appointment with my consultant today and I've started the zoladex treatment.
Just after some advice/info on some of you ladies who have had it or currently having it? Doesn't it hurt!!!! 😯😯🙁

Hi Ellis - This is one of my options either zoladex or surgery. Where did they give you the injection and was it really painful ? Was it done at the Dr's or hospital ? Was this the only option you were given ? Sorry for all the questions hope you don't mind just difficult to know what's best !!
Heyy, so I had surgery this time last year. They diagnosed endometriosis & fibroids after struggling for 8 years. My symptoms started up again and after a lot of them messing me around again they're finally doing something after a year! The injection was in my tummy, they pinch some fatty skin together to help it not hurt so much. It's a sharp scratch, uncomfortable but not too bad. My first one was yesterday at the hospital, next 2 with my gp and then back to the hospital. They offered me the pill, which I can't have as I react to some ingredient in them and they've never worked and they also offered me the mirena coil which I refused due to my research on it and how it's not the best. Don't apologise it's fine, that's what this group is for 😊😊 hope you get sorted soon x

I've been on zoladex now for 12 months. I have the injection on a monthly basis, and it has worked wonders for me.
I have mine with a nurse at my GPS it's uncomfortable, but not that bad at all. Just a sharp scratch... Nothing compared to the normal endo pains.

I hate to tell you but yes it hurts...its quite a thick needle and if you get a stupid nurse that doesnt put it in the right way it worse, then when its in expect the worst moods ever... from sadness/tears, anger, even suicidal thoughts... i was on it for a year and made them stop it on me... i couldnt handle all the strong emotions... luckily my boyfriend was sooo supportive, because i dont think i could have been that supporrive if it was the other way about....
On 2 occasions i took an allergic reaction(the doctor said) it bruised (about the size of a yellow melon) really really badly on my stomach...another reason i stopped it...

Oh nooo!! That's terrible!! This is my worry with having it. My moods are always all over the place and I don't want them to get any worse. Hope your all okay now? Sounds absolutely terrible bless you xx
Awh ellis13, i hate telling people especially girls going through it... i hated the whole thing... so had another lap... was way to much there for doc to take away...been referred to the endo specialist in belfast... im on the mirena now... still suffering bad pains... its affected my job(self employed registered childminder)
I suffer as much as i can because i hate that im always complaining about it...and because i look ok outside people kinda have a silly look on their faces.... i really hope it works for you...as i know it helps some girls... xox
I've been on it twice. Nearly at the end of my 6 months. The pros are it has taken most of my pain away and extreme tiredness. The cons are hot flushes insomnia and moments of wanting to punch someone. But none of these symptoms are painful I can control these and get on with my day to day life. Without it I am in pain for most of the month taking pain relief and not working. I am self employed and work from home so I am not sure how I'd cope with the hot flushes and sweats if I was around people all the time. The needle is big but if you take a deep breath before it goes in and breath out then it's all over. I am due surgery this year so hoping it helps as I don't want to be on zoledex for ever. I had the injections last summer and I did have more hot flushes this time it been quite nice having them as it's been so cold recently. Any more question please ask.

My worry is the hot flushes & moods. I'm already terrible for my mood swings. How soon after the first injection do the symptoms start? I had mine yesterday. My surgery last year helped me out a lot, but only temporary. I seem to be developing different/worse symptoms as I've got older. I also worry as I work within the public and find it hard with having my Flare up days. Luckily my boss is sort of understanding but I always feel guilty if I can't make it into work x
I found after 3days the symptoms started... my hot flushes were always at night...i couldnt sleep for the heat... my bf couldnt touch me when we were sleeping that sent me over the edge..we just always joked about it...
I put on 2st of weight with it and the hrt and high blood pressure tablets... im 38 and they have aaid ill need a hysterectomy... 🙁 xo
Mine wasn't painful.. well the actual injection but a few hours later I got a migraine that lasted for 23 days I got admitted under neurologist it was hell.. good luck x
Nah doesn't hurt it's just like getting a vaccination it isn't too bad don't worry it will sting for say 3 seconds while they do it but then nothing much but of a slight bruise maybe. They place a small implant under the skin in the groin stomach area but some like Prostrap I think can go anywhere leg bum arm your choice. Takes about 2 weeks to start working to lower your hormones so don't take your hrt too soon. You may get a slight flare of symptoms just before it starts working. Apparently it's mode of action is to over flood the endocrine system in the brain with Fsh and Lh follicular stimuling hormone and lutinising hormone which then caused it to shut down and hey presto your hormones drop because your body is no longer producing lh and fsh which are the hormones that make your ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone. Ps you really do need to take a bit of hrt with it otherwise you will sweat like hell at night and not sleep and get depressed and aggressive. Tibolone is ok . You can still be a bit moody and down even on the hrt but you need the hrt also to protect your bones . you might also get a little temporary memory problems. But personally I'd take it any day over endo pain. Xx
I never put any weight on with it and I took tibolone had zolodex for 2 year so
My hot flushes started on the 2nd injection. I have horrible night sweats but I've found that if I wear a sports top and leggings in bed I don't wake up as much as these soak up the sweat. It's worse if I sleep naked as the sheets get so wet it then wakes me up. Some nights I sleep really well and other nights are rubbish. Think the flushes come in cycles as some days are so intense and I'll pour with sweat and other days I just get hot. I don't take hrt and my consultant said it's ok as I've had a 10 month break between the injections. Hope you get on ok. Xx
I'm with u on the naked thing . Now we know why our mum and grandmothers wore a lot of polyester lol. Cotton rubbish as yes it soaks up but gets so damned cold. Sports tops are good I find loose fitting . I had times when even then I'd have to change my nightmare 7 to 10 times a night waking every hour. I'd change sides of the bed big bed live alone I'd spin the quilt round all 4 ways, this is a big reason I stayed alone but it was in my mid 30s to now. I'm Actually pretty dry at night now but I don't take as much hrt as I did when on the zolodex so it doesn't make sense but I'm glad for the dry nights and better sleep. I'd want to slap anyone who said something stupid like make sure your room is cool . No idea some people it could be -2 and it would be the same. Xxx
And all that rolling eyes crap just because I got in a bit later than anyone else. I was allowed and I explained why . But they still did it . Bad move to wind up a woman in an artificial menopause who has been getting only 1 to 3 hours sleep per night.
