I've been referred for an MRI with contrast dye before deciding whether or not to have another lap as my symptoms have increased over the last couple of months.
I've had a regular MRI before but can anyone explain what I can expect with the dye?
I felt very claustrophobic the first time so anything to put my mind at rest would be much appreciated xx

They make you drink something, it tastes a little sweet and salty but not bad, kind of like watered down soda. Then they inject you with another kind do dye through an IV it'll make you feel like you need to pee.
Hope this helps you barely feel it, you may be constipated after.
I'm the same as you so when I had my MRI I asked to go in feet first that really helped me. With the dye it's just a fluid that put into your vain. I was worried about it all and it was all fine.
You cannot really feel the dye. They put a cannula in your arm and then inject the dye right before the end of the scan. It can feel cold in your veins and could make you feel nauseous (I got cold, but not I'll). Ask for a blanket to cover you. It is very quick and is over in less than 5 minutes. The dye really helps pick out areas and you get a great scan. I have fibroids, endo and adenomyosis and they were all fairly clear.
I was diagnosed in Oct with stage 4 endo obliterated pouch of douglas, several adhesions mostly on left side, endo on bladder and bowel which is stuck to back of uterus and cervix. Major rectal pains and constant pain from ashesions and had MRI done in Nov which found 2 fibroids. The one inside obviously wasn't seen during lap but my uterus is huge because of it and gynae didn't mention it at lap. I was told no dye was necessary at my mri but surely should be been offered given the detail dye adds?!. I'm just bloody relieved I've got my bsge app end of this month, which I had to argue the toss with my gynae for.Grrrrrrrrr!
Sounds like you've had a rough time but at least you got the referral that you need in the end. Fortunately a reasonably local hospital (40 miles away) has just become a BSGE centre and I already know the consultant there. He's really supportive but my GP surgery is pretty useless at getting referral letters etc out in good time!!!
Ah that's good. The support makes a big difference! I just had to have a moan as had worsening symptoms for 20 years and finally get diagnosis and gynae being resistant about bsge. I didn't take any bs as I did my homework. Try not to worry about the MRI. It should only cover you partially given it's pelvic anyway. Just let the weird noises lull you into a trance! It worked for me. Plus I didn't dare move. You'll be fine
