MRI - buscapan and contrast dye

Hey guys,

I have an MRI this week where I will have a cannula for both buscapan and contrast dye. Anyone who has had these were there any side effects after? Hospital letter states blurred vision and vomiting 😖 hoping that’s a 1 in 100 scenario though!

Is it general for pelvic scan that you’ll go feet first into the MRI also?

Thanks!

Yes you go in feet first.

I have had the meds and no side effects.

Hope it goes well x

I had the same too recently. It may just have been me but I was completely wiped out after and slept for two plus hours. 😴 Other than that all fine. Good luck x

I had those meds and had no side effects😊 and I also went feet first but my head was never fully in the scanner xx

I have this done and was rushing around afterwards so did feel a bit dizzy I hadn’t actually appreciated what they’d done. So probably best to take it easy afterwards but aside from that all was good!

Had 3 pelvic MRI scans over the past 15 months with contrast and buscopan. I remember feeling worried about the contrast/buscopan side effects that was mentioned at the time but all was fine. As everyone else has said, you go in feet first but your head is fully out of the scanner at all times. Hope all goes well for you x

I didn’t have any side effects from both MRI’s I’ve had. I had the sensation of feeling cold when they inject the dye, but it wasn’t unpleasant or painful just weird. Both times I went head first for pelvic scan (not feet). I hope this helps?

Wishing you all the best.

I had the MRI and they didn't need to give the contrast in the end but had the buscopan. I requested to go in feet first as I'm severely claustrophobic and they were happy to do that. The buscopan just gave me a dry mouth and no other side effects so all was fine! X
