Yappy, I have problems with examinations because my uterus is retroverted (pointing the wrong way) due to endometriosis/adhesions and they have problems getting to my cervix.
I don't have coil, but have had investigations for post menopausal bleeding. They tried twice to get a cervical swab and it was very, very painful.
The gynaecologist recommended an ultrasound scan, but the radiographer couldn't see the lining of my uterus due to 3 fibroids obstructing her view. So, they recommended a hysteroscopy.
Because of the previous problems, I opted to have the hysteroscopy done under general anaesthetic. I had it done in the day surgery unit and was in at 2 pm and out at 6 pm.
Perhaps discuss that option with your GP?
