Hi

Just returned from the doctor as my mirena coil string is missing so I will have to go for a scan has anyone else had this happen?

hi there

Mine disappear and reappear - generally within the week I worried at first but now realise it's just another part of what happens to my body with this condition! Good to be checked to see that yours is still in place though!

Hi

Thanks the doctor couldn't find them either so now I'm worried(made the mistake of doing a google search)

Don't worry. Loads of people 'lose' them (most commonly down the loo!). It may be a surprise - especially if it was painful having it inserted - but some do just get expelled ... and we don't necessarily notice! I never lost mine (had it removed a while back, now post-menopause - and so far no return of endo and pains), but the length of the strings seemed to vary, hugely over time (tmi?) but I'm sure we can't lose them inside!

Thanks my last one did come out (the old style one) and there's always the horror stories of coils but seeing my doctor tomorrow so hopefully I will get it sorted.

Thanks treez

With my last mirena the threads went back up inside. Ended up going to the hospital for it to be removed. It took 3 nurses to get it. I had no pain just uncomfortable. A woman next door was screaming her head. The nurses kept saying sorry I was like it's ok I'll just lie here humming lol.
