Coil confusion

Hi, I've been told I've got to have an op where they fit a coil beginning with m but I've forgotten it's name but I've heard ppl mention it before. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and could tell me a bit more? Xx

I'm in the same position where I don't know what to expect - I'm in pain all the time it's to a point where I'm desperate but I need to learn more about what this coil does and how it helps me. I'm quite scared by all of this tbh xx

Me too... The docs dont explain much to me about how endo occurs.. i was only told the coil helps due to letting off a hormone and stopping periods.... I feel alone and feel like no1 is giving me answers

I've researched a lot of my answers. I didn't realise they stop your periods.... Hmmm that's curious xxx

Ive been on the pill too for 3months solid and then have a 7 day break - been told this was a good way to help the endo producing more - something about when there is no period it doesnt occur as much - although im not even sure if that works at all. This whole endo thing has me stressed out and feel there are no real answers from anyone - everyone on here suffers the same pains and I keep reading that people are on their 3rd or 4th lapo - im due my 2nd and worried this isnt an end to all this - One thing i did learn was that my endo is within my womb lining - so my mind says surely the only way to have the endo gone for good would be to remove the womb - but im only 30! this is no option ive been told. also have read things like peoples ovaries are badly affected now due to it being left - although mine hasnt been left its still stressing me out at whats later to come. my worst bit has been these past 2 years fighting through all the doctors and clinics again to get them to believe me that the pains were back after such a short time of having my 1st lapo.

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time- I'm currently on tricycling with the pill for 3 months then a break. I've been put on a new medication and I feel like the stuffing is knocked out of me. Legs feel like jelly. When I read everybody's messages on here I finally feel like ppl understand what I'm going through because I just seem to be fobbed off and fobbed off by a lot of doctors. I was forced to go private. I read of a doctor in my area who specialises in my problems so I went to see him. My desperation for help has resorted in clearing my bank account of savings xxxx

Its soo tough... No1 seems to have answers. Im with an endo specialist and she appears to know what she doing but same time i feel im hardly given many answers... Maybe as no1 really has any. Are you in london? Maybe see who i see

I had this and still had periods and also got pv inflamatory disease from the marina coil. Safe to say it was removed 4 months after it was fitted xx

I see - so do a lot of women get this problem? What kind of op do you get to fit it? Xxx

The coil and be fitted by your nurse of GP - its quick and easy and been told its as simple as having the smear. Im only having mine done in the lapo op as they can get it all done in one go.

I'm not 100% sure if it's common for women to have the same problems as what i did. I had local anaestetic when i had it done didnt take long, mine just felt like having internal swabs taken but a fee pinches xx

I've had the Mirena coil for 3 years now. Keeps the endo in check. However, there are side effects, at least for me. Every few months or so I get a bout of headache, nausea, gas/diarrhea and fatigue; usually lasts a day or two. I happen to be going through it right now, and it's the third day already! I'm getting very sick of it... Some women do great with the Mirena, some have horror stories. Google it and you'll see.

i refused the coil when having my 1st lapo op due to all the horror stories - they out-weighed the good stories and the only people i heard good from were the actual consultants. i already suffer migranes and worry about this coil and been told i must have it at least 6 months to allow it to settle. !!! still cant help but worry its not going to agree with me - i am aware im worrying about something that hasnt happened yet but ive my pre op tomorrow and the op for the 2nd lapo will soon follow.
