Hi ladies, my consultant has prescribed cerazette to take indefinitely, she said to start straight away but the instructions on pack say start on first day of next period which isn't for another 3 weeks ? So do I start it now or not ? Also a bit worried about the increase in breast cancer by taking this ?
Thanks x

Hi pinkbubble, I have been on Cerazette since April. You can start taking it straight away, but be aware that it will not be effective as a contraceptive. For it to be effective contraception straight away you need to take on the first day of period. Given that it was prescribed for medical reasons, you should take it straight away. It will need to be taken at roughly the same time everyday. As regards greater risk of breast cancer, I wouldn't know what to say except all of these sort of pills come with their burdens and risk. However, if you have a family history of breast cancer, I would speak to your gp about it. Hope this helps. x
HI, can anyone help me, I have been on Cerazette for nearly 3 months now and I haven't had a period, I know this might sound weird but I preferred having one! in order to have one again would I have to stop taking it? I still get period pains but no period.
