Hi I had my ovaries removed yesterday so I can emphasize deeply with how you feel as I didn't sleep the night before. I'm feeling very emotional at the moment and have not had any HRT given as yet. Still in a lot of pain and trying to take one day at a time. Good luck 🍀 and much love xxxxxx

Hi I had a total hysterectomy on 1 August 2015, best thing I ever did. ...no more pain and leading a painless normal life now! !! Good luck.

Don't know your age but I was 36 when they did it and after suffering for 20 years it's the best thing the docs ever done

Hi, good luck today, I had a hysterectomy with overies left in in July last year, the recovery was a lot easier than I thought, I think we are all so used to being in pain that it's a breeze for us,

Just be kind to yourself and accept any help on offer, I got myself a bell, just abit of fun, getting my family running around after me for a change,

It's all over before you know it

Xxxxxxxxxx

I have to say when I came around from the anethestic and found out how much pain I wasn't in, and how much better I felt I just found it funny. I only took painkillers because I was so exhausted after not getting much sleep in hospital, didn't take any at all once I was home. I'm still suffering from poor concentration and mild headaches either due to the drop in hormones or the HRT, not sure which, but I'm hoping that will settle down soon.

Hi Claire,

Don't be too worried about the after affects. I had an Oopherectomy in November last which was the removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes. they left my uterus. I too was anxious and worried how I would feel about not having ovaries and going into full menopausal symptoms, but do you know what, I have never felt better. Apart from the odd hot flush (which I am getting used to) I feel wonderful. I feel like a new woman. I have suffered for the past ten years with pelvic pain, premenstrual dysphoria, menstrual migraine, depression, fatigue and being off work every month. I now feel like I have come out the other side and feel very well. I am not on HRT either, because I don't need it. I feel fine, like I said apart from the odd hot flush which I can cope with.

Hope it all works out for you. Give it about 6 weeks and I bet you will feel like a new woman.

Good Luck x

I'm due to have a hysterectomy on 29 February. They will be leaving one ovary though as it is healthy, the other they will remove. I am worried also about the actual operation in itself and the after affects!... I do understand your concerns.

I'm just trying to focus on the fact that once it's done, no more continual bleeding or pain.... I can't imagine life not bleeding!!

It will be heaven!... Good luck my lovely! I'm sure we will all come out the other side smiling xxx

Hello. I'm 35,I had a full hysterectomy a week and I half ago. I can honestly say it is the best decision I've ever made. I was off pain killers after 4 days and feel better than I have in years. I was in so much pain before that I hardly noticed the pain from the op. I'm not on anything for menopause symptoms yet because they haven't started, but my surgeon is happy for me to look for alternatives to hrt because he says there is always a slight risk endo could come back. I get quite tired but I can cope with that. I know everyone is different but I just wanted to share my experience with you. All the best for your op.xx

Hello. I had a complete hysterectomy and removal of tubes and ovaries 2.5 days ago due to a botched Novasure procedure and endometriosis. Am due home this afternoon. Had to stay extra night as went into urinary retention and needed catheter overnight. Pain wise - it has been ok. Not as bad as I thought. Mostly just sore. Am taking paracetamol and ibruofen with tramadol if I need it. Main thing is to drink lots of water and rest which I am sure will be easier at home for me. Good luck!

Hi. I had a TAH-BSO in Nov. Best thing ever. Rest up, make sure you have everything to hand and help around the house. Meds to hand too. Rest up when needed and don't rush things. Good luck. You'll feel so much better once it's over with.

Hi hun, I'm having a total hysterectomy and oopherectomy in April and am very nervous too. Am 42 so might have to be on HRT for a long time, which I am very nervous about. For me the scary parts of it which are a couple, outweigh the absolute agony, bleeding and feeling very unwell all the time. Very good luck to you and hope it goes well x x

I'm here sitting on my couch having had my hysterectomy last Wednesday, and I am feeling amazing!! I can feel that all the bad stuff was taken out of my body and now I'm just healing from the new pain. Turns out my cyst was the size of a grapefruit and it, with the endo, was wrapped around everything and my colon needed to be repaired...and even with all of that I am so glad I went through with it...they took it all, cervix, ovaries and of course my uterus. I hope you feel as better as I do very soon!!

Hi glad you are doing well. I slept better last night - first night back at home. I was just wondering if you will /are on HRT? My op was last Tuesday. Had everything plus remaining ovary and tube out. Started Livial (Tibolone) today as just turned 45 years old. A gynae specialist nurse convinced me it was in my best interest to start (good for hair, skin, bones and cardiovascular system)it as was originally thinking of looking into homeopathic options. Thank you. X

I had mine on Tuesday and I was home Thursday (to everyone's surprise). I am recovering well and have had no issues as yet. I started HRT yesterday and I am hoping to continue on my path to being a new woman. I hope it went well for you. Stay positive ☺

Wow wow wow that's all I can say 😱 I have been so very scared about having my hysterectomy done. I am having a full hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries. It's the removal of the ovaries and the HRT side of things, i will be 48 next month. My hysterectomy will be Apr/May no date as yet. I am also having all severe endo excised and bowel surgery. I also have suspected Adenomyosis. Some advice would be much appreciated 😁
