Hi, i have my op tomorrow I'm having hysterectomy with removel of ovaries and to unstick my bowel and bladder. I'm feeling a little nervous as not sure if I will have a temporary bag or not, just thought I would post on here and see if anyone else has had the same and did anyone else feel sick with the bowel prep?

Thanks

Sarah x

Hi Sarah, I'm due to have hysterectomy, ovary removal and excision with possible bowel resection next month so just want to wish you luck and hope everything goes well.

Hello. I've recently been told it's likely I will need to have a similar operation. My pelvis is a bit of a mess with bowel involvement too so guess a bag is a risk too. I'm waiting to see specialist on Monday. It's pretty scary isn't it? Best of luck and speedy recovery x

Hello

I'm having mine on Tuesday. I have heard that the bowel prep can be sore with cramps. Let us know how you get on x

Hey Sarah, you are probably sick with nerves never mind the bowel prep! It can make you a bit queezy whilst it's taking effect. I've been through the 'bag or no bag' experience and it isn't pleasant going into an op not knowing the exact outcome. Try and remember how small the risk is, they have to inform you about it but they will try everything to avoid you ending up with a bag. Even if you do in most cases it is just to give your bowel a rest so it can heal and as you say will only be temporary. When I went for mine they said it could be permanent - I was a wreck with nerves!!

.... Have just realised your op will be done by now!! Really hope it went well for you, you'll be so relieved it's over. Wishing you a good recovery xx
