Hi there, l work in endoscopy and the low reside is just a low fibre diet. There are lots of different types of laxatives and many ask you to starve the day before you take your laxative. Some don’t like citramag it will still work. Drink plenty of water. Good luck xxx

I had Picolax but I did eat a low residue diet and it did help in terms of resuming bowel function after the procedure. And yes drink plenty of water. Again it all helps. Good luck. So many people on here helped me - if there are any other questions- may not be able to help but will give it a shot. And remember you are not alone

It depends what time you have the procedure. If it is in the morning then no food. Mine (operation) was in the afternoon 2pm so I had a very light breakfast (boiled egg) at 6 and then nothing after that. But every hospital has its own variation. If you are concerned get in touch with the nurses. They are usually brilliant and very knowledgeable. I have spent 5 days in hospital continually asking nurses questions! There is also good stuff online. Search google for bowel prep + procedure (whatever it is) + morning or afternoon appointment. Good luck. I will be thinking of you.πŸ™‚
