Has anyone had a lap and endoscopy at a private hospital which you've paid for? Considering all my options and just wondering how much it would cost x

Cost of private treatment
Hi, it will depend on the hospital but in London at the Royal Free, (in 2004), mine cost as follows:
£1200 for both surgeon and anaesthetist
£180 for ultrasound
£3259.92 for hospital (room, care, drugs, etc.)
Additionally, I had to pay £5,000 up front (deposit) - in case you don't pay once you've had your surgery. There were also consultants' fees before and after of around £500.
Total, therefore was almost £5,000 anyway! They should provide you with full breakdowns of costs but if any complications occur, etc. then the cost will be higher - REMEMBER THIS WAS IN 2004 so charges may have increased since then.
In total, over the twenty odd years I had private treatment (including all sorts of alternative therapy), I spent around £180k.
Wow - £180k is a lot of money!!! Thanks for your reply - it's helpful to have a guide as to what to expect.
I had a lap privately (not an endoscopy tho sorry) and it cost round about £3,000. It was v pricey but i needed it ASAP so i didn't have a choice really. Hope this helps!
My lap is costing £2900 but i am in northern ireland and everything is a bit cheaper here than in england x
My initial consultation was around £80 2 years ago from what I could remember and from that I had the option to either be put to the top of his NHS list for the lap or have it privately the following week-I was pretty fed up by this point and hate hospitals so I was fortunate enough to be able to go with the latter, costing approx. £3k. my follow up appointment was included in this cost but I have since been back to see my consultant and had to pay the usual consultation as expected.
