How do you get private treatment on the nhs? I've been given a year's wait to be seen on the nhs by gynae. I've had a private consultation out of desperation and am thinking about having private surgery but it's a massive decision. It's the same surgeon whether nhs or private. Thanks in advance xxx

You don't, but some surgeons allow you to pay for an initial consult and then go onto the NHS list. It just speeds up the first step.
I had some treatment at a private hospital which was paid for by the NHS (my first lap, plus a colonoscopy). I didn't actively seek it out, after I was referred I had a phone call from my local hosp asking if I would be willing to be seen at the private hospital, and when I said I was, I got an appointment through the post. I didn't have any say in which hospital I went to or who I saw. I think it is something some NHS trusts do in order to try and cut waiting times. Can't say I had amazing treatment there. The wait was less than I waited to be seen at the bsge centre I was referred to later on but it was still a couple of months. If you want to be seen within a couple of days you have to pay and it becomes very expensive very quickly.
Ok I will keep this in mind, thank you xxx
Thank you, take care xx
Try ringing bupa. They have a service called "bupa on demand" where you pay as you go rather than insurance. I have no idea how good it is as I've not used it, but you can call them to enquire.
