Advice about private treatment for Endo?

Hi hope everyone is keeping well I have recently had a letter to advise that my planned appointment is cancelled for three months and I also have been told I cannot contact anyone during this time. Can anyone advise if you can get a private consultation and If you can then go on an NHS waiting list. And does anyone have any knowledge about private health plans for women with Endo.?

Any help appreciated.

The best I can suggest is find someone you’d like to see in preference and call their secretary. I’m not sure if private consultations are happening.

When I saw a gynaecologist privately I had the option of op on NHS or private.

There was a post about private care recently.

Hello!

I’m in the process of investigations on an NHS list after my private consultant referred me.

I saw a private consultant in October who referred me, saw an NHS consultant in December who booked me for a laparoscopy (begrudgingly) for February. I cancelled with him and requested to be moved to a different Gynae team as he clearly had a bee in his bonnet that I’d gone private and the consultant had put in his referral letter “what he would do” for treatment. Currently awaiting a face to face consultation in 3 months time to rebook my laparoscopy with my new nhs dr; but spoke to him 2 weeks ago and he was much more empathetic.

I know quite a few people who have had private consultations and gone to nhs x

Hi I don’t think private apppintments are going ahead at the moment either but usually you can ask to be referred back to nhs at your private appointment

Hi you can still ring your GP and ask for them to ring you back to discuss a private referral. Usually you may see the same doctor both privately and through the NHS, depending on where you live. I have done both and you get longer with a private appointment than the NHS. If you go with a list of what you want to know etc that will structure the appointment. They tend to focus on your pain or your fertility (but that's just my experience) if they decide to send you for blood tests it's back to nhs. You can still just go to your GP for this. Take care xxx

Thanks for your advice I had no idea you could ask for a referral privately I assumed it could only be through the NHS.

I went direct, didn’t even discuss private with GP, I’d had enough by that time. I had no problems getting an appointment, it was also a chance not to be hindered by anyone else’s view I could start from scratch.

It may have put GP surgery out of joint to start with when I forwarded the letters.

Yes, it usually costs about £150-£200 and will be at your local private hospital.
