2nd op in a year help??
Hey, yes I've had this twice - first time 4 months in between, second time 8 month gap. Don't be scared, the fact that you've been through a lap before means you'll be more prepared and can deal with it better. If it wasn't necessary they wouldn't put you through it, so think about it as the best way to get the best outcome from your treatment. What did they find/do on your first lap?
Personally I did find my recovery longer after the second ops but I would attribute it more to the fact that in both cases they were major surgeries, rather than that they were timed close to another op. The whole experience can take its toll, so just prepare yourself and you will be fine x
Yeah
Hi .... I have had 4 laproscopy surgery's in the past year. I was diagnosed with severe stage 4 endometriosis and it has come back 3 times. I have had 1 diagnostic laproscopy and 2 laser endometriosis removals as well as the removal of chocolate cyst and my 4th operation was another diagnostic laproscopy where I was told my endometriosis has returned and that fusing had already begun on my left side. After being told by drs that they were going to give my a historectomy in a year as it was the only was for it to stop my endometriosis from coming back. But I am only 25 and would like to have kids some day so the idea of a historectomy was not appealing to me. I went and saw a private consultant who told me that a historectomy was not necessary and that the surgery I need is the total pelvic peritoneal excision. I have once again been admitted into hospital as the pain is getting worse and waiting on the TPPE surgery.
I understand how scared and probably frustrated you are. My advice would be to look into the TPPE surgery and it may help you and stop the endometriosis from returning.
Hopefully you won't have to have anymore surgeries. I have ever thing crossed you have a healthy and speedy recovery. ☺
If you can and have time could you tell me more about this surgery please as im at a dead end with all this im already on anti depressants xx
Hi .. the total pelvic peritoneal excision surgury quite a new surgury. My private consultant was Dr Trehan who is well known endometriosis specialist and has preformed this surgery many times himself. It is where they go into your stomach just like a laproscopy but instead of just removing the endometriosis the surgeon will remove all of the skin behind you bladder ovaries and womb this will hopefully stop the endometriosis from returning as it will have no place left to grow. Dr Trehan dose have a website that will explain the surgery a lot better then I am doing . If you just type the surgery name into Google along with Dr Trehans name you will see the website.
I hope this has at least helped a little. I do know depending on the severity of your endometriosis the surgery can take up to 8 hours. Because they will have to remove the endometriosis and separate your organs again and then remove the skin.
Hopefully this has been of some help.
I know how depressing and frustrating this disease can be and especially because a lot of people have never heard of it so don't understand how much pain we live with every single day.
