Yep, Doctors are useless.

Thought seeing a GP today would help at least a little. I mentioned Endometriosis, along with all the symptoms I have and like all the other Doctors she didn't help whatsoever. Some of her advice was "Possibly is Endometriosis, but you're on the treatment for it already...birth control." Oh yes, the pill which is clearly working at the minute, Doc (!)

Along with "The only way to stop it would be pregnancy." Also great advice, a 20 year old who is not ready for children yet and working on minimum wage being told the way to end my pain is getting pregnant. Not to mention when I asked for a note for my employer to explain I was in extremely bad pain and explaining my absence for the past week, and also mentioning I would need to sit down in my job (I stand for 8 hours a day, you can imagine it doesn't help,) she stated she wouldn't be able to provide anything like that and I would need to speak to my boss about it. Even though I told her I've had this discussion with my boss and been told I would need a note from a medical professional as proof.

Also prescribed no painkillers which I asked for, didn't change the brand of pill which has irritated me, doesn't want to do any further tests. Told me to basically take laxatives to soften my stools because it was probably my bowel...there has never been any problems with my stools or constipation.

Then when I asked for a lap she might as well laughed in my face, apparently all that would do would give me peace of mind...well yes that would be nice, a real fucking diagnosis, instead of "probablys" and "maybes."

Now she wants to test my bowels (which I supposed isn't bad.) But doesn't seem bothered by the fact I'm in constant agony, I can't sleep, I can't eat, I barely feel alive any more.

Fuck this I'm finding a specialist.

*sobbing uncontrollably at the minute*

I'm sooooo sorry your doctors a b***h!! She sounds absolutely horrible! I went through 3 doctors, all just masking my symptoms, before i found the most wonderful doctor in the world that pushed me to go and see a gynae!

I would strongly suggest you try and see another GP at the practice, and failing that, potentially see how much a consultation at a Private Practice would cost? All it would take would be one consultation and they could get you referred back to the NHS Gynae's. Im not sure exactly how it works as i was quite lucky, but i really do think you need to potentially see someone private if you cant see another GP.

I hate the way they suggest pregnancy as if thats a viable option!!

Really hope you get it sorted soon :( :(

Keep pushing though!!

She was awful, had me in tears pretty much and didn't care. Just kept stating the obvious about there is no cure you have to live with it, treatment before diagnosis from lap...blah blah blah.

I have refused to see her now at my GP's practice, and instead seeing another doctor who is nice.

Thanks x

Oh god, I'm so glad you've got another GP now though! I had a doctor like that, she was older, and just thought i should get on with it and stop moaning... silly cow!

Never mind though, I'm glad your seeing someone else! I hope they can refer you to a Gynaecologist to finally get it sorted!

Change doctor immediately. Try a different doctor in the practice, otherwise change to a new practice.

Once you have a doctor that listens, ask to be referred to a specialist Endo centre.

Wishing you all the best x

Tried a new doctor explaining the stress and depression I'm feeling because of this and she seemed caring. She even wanted to sign me off work for a few months...I said no, but I am returning to work with amended duties which will help I imagine.

Thank you x

Oh dear!,you have a very difficult Gp,some of them are quite full of themselves and make you feel your symptoms are all in your head. You should see her one more time and restate all this and push for a referral not a diagnosis from her as she is clearly not specialised enough to treat you and if she still would not take you seriously then change to another simple!.

You can also report her so thing does not happen to others(There are links online). Her Advise of pregnancy also shows how little knowledge she has about Endometriosis.

Unfortunately to find a specialist on the Nhs you still need a GP referral unless you want to go private.

It is so sad what you are going through and i hope help comes fast.

Thanks

Saw a new doctor today who was more helpful and said she'd be pushing Doctors at my local hospital for more tests and a possible lap. But she listened the most which was nice.

Im so glad to hear this, keep us posted.

I urge you to chase down all of Lindle's posts. Somewhere she lists the specialist endo centres in the country, and maybe you could ask to be referred to one of those. Especially ... because ... once you read all the information on Lindles' posts and links, you will know more than all the GPs at your practice, and will be able to show them published proof that they are wrong.

I would try a different GP at the practice - once you have amassed all your info - and also, take someone along with you. Get them all clued up, too, and then they can be your witness, support, and additional moral and medical ballast.

I cannot believe they are still spouting this garbage about the pill, etc. It 'just about' worked for me 20+ years ago, but my endo was only ever very mild - the pill just held it at bay. But if all that is there in you is not properly removed, while less may form while you are on the pill, you still have deposits (and maybe even adhesions) causing ongoing trouble.

Good luck, I hope you get some justice and proper medical care.
